That said, poor old Luker is in a funk currently. His spirits are at a worrying low. โ˜น๏ธ But thatโ€™s for another thread.

This is a shame, but interestingly enough, he played quite well yesterday

Iโ€™ve said it before, lots of times. Our club is incredible at keeping long term injury players in great spirits. Itโ€™s astounding how they manage to do this successfully time and time again. I know every player handles things differently, but I canโ€™t see any reason why Jai would be any different.

What's happened to Luker?

He was meant to debut in round one. He was still wearing the face guard but his fractured cheekbone had healed and the mask was just added protection, then he sustained a knee injury in the praccy match in Ballarat. The knee issue was very close to being a non-issue but now heโ€™s sore in several places. Yesterday he said heโ€™s disappointed with how he played and that his poor performance was due to feeling โ€œspaced outโ€ at times during the game. He said the pain meds are compulsory though, for him to play.

Tell him to hang in there, his time will come.

Please give mine and everyoneโ€™s best, I feel like I want to crash in to visit him in hospital and be a mad weirdo just to tell him how awesome he is and how much we all see him as an integral part of our next flag tilt, heโ€™s just huge for the club and one of everyoneโ€™s favourites I reckon, I hope he knows that!

Yep, deffo one from me, not that he'd know me from a bar of soap (though maybe the hats have made an impression....).

Youโ€™re right. He wonโ€™t be at training for quite some time. But he may be at an event - thereโ€™s a couple in the near future - and if he is I will definitely pass on everyoneโ€™s best wishes for a speedy recovery โค๏ธ๐Ÿ’™

Jai may not be in hospital quite yet - I don't think an ACL acute injury gets fixed immediately ie a week or so for swelling to go down.

Terrible news for Culley, he was just starting to get some continuity in his game. I love his intensity and overhead marking. Looking fwd to him being back out there next year in the red and blue.

Yes thats correct my son had 2 from footy, same knee, get well soon son! And LOVED the way he handled it, no histrionics no tears.... just class

GET WELL SOON JAI, HAVE LOVED UR WORK SO FAR

P.F

Devo for Jai. He had a huge game v the Lions and was an important cog for our side. Opens the door for someone else, but still very flat for him.

  • CASEY: Richmond

The winds finally returned to Casey Fields for the Demonsโ€™ third home game of the VFL season, and its impact was immediate. After two opening rounds played in uncharacteristically fine conditions, the Anzac Day clash brought back the familiar gusty conditions that have been a feature of the region at this time of the year.
Forced to kick into the breeze first, the slow-starting Demons faced a tricky opening against an enthusiastic young Tigers outfit. Casey responded by turning the contest into a scramble, pressuring Richmond into errors and missed targets. The tactic proved crucial, keeping the game tight for three and a half quarters before the Demons pulled away with the autumn wind at their backs.
