Times are tough and things are grim.

As the thread title suggests, I have run out of alliterative names for my brainteasers.

Moreover, I have also run out of brainteasers and this shall be the last of them.

Even more dire, I have almost run out of pixels and could only afford an initial rather than a first name for the players in today's team.

You will see that they were all MFC listed at some point with some better known than others.

Your challenge is to find the common link.  As promised, this is without doubt one of my easiest puzzles.

Answers in a PM only please.  Blurting will cause hurting.

No subterfuge here nor red herrings nor shenanigans nor skulduggery.

It is indeed my last teaser.  Brother, my cup is empty.

Two posters are well on the way to the correct answer but need to provide more information.

Don't try to overthink.  It's pretty straightforward and (IMO) at the easy end of the scale.

Back in an hour, thrillseekers.  A nice walk beckons.  (not a clue!)

Player's first names were abbreviated to an initial due to a pixel shortage at my end.

It would be wise to include them in your deliberations.

Those posters who have been asked to provide more information may find this hint most useful.

No. It's not.

Until it is.

Hope you're not wearing your winklepickers @Timothy Reddan-A'Blew because you'll kick yourself when the solution becomes apparent.

That's all from me for tonight.  There will probably be another clue tomorrow morning.

No winklepickers, but what I'm lacking in penetration, I'm making up for in repetitions. 🥾🥾🥾🥾🥾🥾🥾

A colleague of my wife was clearing out old stuff and we picked up a Roomba-like device. Generic robot vacuum creature.

Unfortunately it seems quite intimidated by the world. It comes off its little starting block, wiggles a bit, has a quick look around the immediate area, and then decisively 'nopes' the whole scene and goes back to its starting deck.

Poor thing. Does anybody know a good AI psychologist? Not Dr Sbaitso, something more Gen-Z A.I.

A couple of responses have been received and both are close to the answer.

How about a bit of thinking music?  I've always loved reggae ever since I first heard  Dave and Ansel Collins.

Hmmm.  I thought that last clue may have opened the floodgates.

Perhaps I should have included this clip of my favourite song of theirs.  Have a listen, music lovers!

Matthew Jefferson would qualify for this team, but Jacob van Rooyen would not.

So would B Lovett but not T Ormond-Allen.

B. Lovett not only qualifies for the team, he's in it.

I suspect that @Cranky Franky has worked out that all the players in my team have double letters in both their first name and their surname.

To avoid making it too obvious, I went with just the first initial in naming the side.

With names in full, the team reads as follows:

B:       Neville Jetta     Darren Louttit     Matthew Collins

H/B:   Judd McVee     Harrison Petty      Glenn Molloy

C:       Glenn Lovett     Glenn Elliott     Kelly O'Donnell

H/F:    Isaac Weetra     Ross Dillon     Barrie Vagg

F:       Jeff Garlett     Darren Bennett     Terry Gleeson

R:       Darren Jolly     Brett Lovett     Hassa Mann

I/C:    Will Verrall     Barry Denny     Lloyd Burgmann     Russell Colcott

Elliott, O'Donnell, Bennett, Verrall and Colcott boast three sets of double letters.  That's just showing off.

Thanks to all who had a go or at least took an interest.

Are there any more takers?

Yeah, I got it, but now I'm too busy slapping my forehead to send a message.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.
