Gold Coast has three Academy prospects – Havana Harris, Tara Harrington and Mia Salisbury – who could all attract first-round bids, with the Suns needing to match those selections with picks within 18 spots of where the bids land."

There must be something else involved with this trade, because I cannot understand that Tayla would attract pick 14, yet Lily attracts pick 2!....maybe we get Eliza West back as part of the package ??

I don't think we're on the slide. i expect us to bounce back and play finals next year and hopefully go deep.

Even if we had retained all our players from last year we would not have won a flag this year. North, Lions and possibly Crows all stronger than us. We took the hit and i think are better for it in the long run

Chaplin stepped into Birch's position and excelled. she's 22. We didn't miss Libby at all.

West was missed for sure, we could have done with her strong body but she is a limited footballer

if we can draft a big burly midfielder with pick 2 (assuming Lily leaves for the Suns) and can retain Tayla i reckon we're well placed to have a good crack at the flag next year.

GC are potentially getting the best player in the draft as an academy selection and need points to match bids for other talented academy prospects. They’re getting Mithen & other lower picks back in the trade.

Mithen wasn't worth pick 2. We traded mithen, 10 and 28 for 2 and 20, GC got Lil and a whole bunch of picks

Does anybody have any intel on who the Dees will select at Pick 2…?

And 19 and 38 to Suns as well.

We must really want a particular girl at 2, to give Mithen and essentially go up 8 picks from our 10 and throw in 28 and 38 as well, with the 19 for 20 an insignificant part.

19 and 38 weren't our picks. We only gave up Lil, 10 and 28.

So Lily got us two picks 8 spots higher than we had.

As I said we obviously have someone we want at 2.

Who do we think?

Zippy Fish the only one who could push Centra out at pick 1, Rasheed just a little bit further back then a gap to the next group. Both Fish and Rasheed are very good ball users but Fish has the speed advantage. A real excitement machine, would love to see her and Pisano running around for us next season.

Zippy Fish has the most recognisable name.has the most recognisable face in the 2024 AFLW Draft crop, She lives up to it too, with an explosive burst that once she is goalside, it is game over for opponents. Bursting onto the scene a few years ago when she won MVP for Western Australia during its internal Under 16s Championships – prior to playing other states – Fish has long racked up the accolades left and right. An All-Australian as a bottom-ager for the national championships, Fish starred last season for the Sandgropers and will again headline a squad that is stronger than years gone by. Playing at East Fremantle where there is no shortage of talent on-ball or around the field, Fish has ascended to the top of the most damaging players there, and her teammates look for her at every opportunity. At times it is mind boggling that opposition teams don’t place a tag on her, as Fish slices them up; able to burst from centre stoppages, run forward and kick goals from 40 metres with a classy finish. Oh, and last year she won best on ground in the WAFLW Grand Final leading her Sharks to a premiership.

In any other year, Fish would be a pick one lock, but the sheer strength of this draft means she is currently third which is no slight considering the two players above her. From and outside craft perspective and athletic profile, there are none better. She could go close to beating the 3.1-second mark in the 20m sprint, having clocked 3.14 seconds in the past at official preseason testing. Her agility and outstanding clean hands are other strengths in her game, as well as her aerial ability which pound-for-pound is as good as anyone’s going around. The main knock on Fish is her contested ball-winning ability as she is small and naturally has speed over strength, though she does lay some seriously strong tackles. A perfect second possession winner who also can balance between loose ball gets and handball receives to explode forward, she would complement any midfield that has pure contested ball-winners.

Yeah, the trackers are wrong, the official AFL account which announces trades on twitter listed pick 46. Altogether that places Mithen's value at roughly pick 17. 

Flash Davey’s niece, Tatyana Perry is in the draft crop this year. Was into Dees because uncle Aaron was with us, tipped to go in the 25-40 range. In other drafts she’d probably be well in first rd contention, but this is an especially strong group. Speed and skill is Tatyana’s calling card, good by foot too:

Write up has Molly as a defender.  Actually plays a lot in the midfield.  Her tackling and aerobic ability to get to contests are best assets.  Has grown up with footy and can kick and mark as well as any in the draft group.  Only knock is that she is from WA so moving will need to be talked through.  But hey it’s a national comp.

Extremely athletic tall defender who is strong overhead and very composed with her decision making and ball use on the way out. Was selected as an U18 All Australian as a bottom-age player last year after averaging 14 disposals at 78 percent efficiency while representing Western Australia at the National Championships. Was a strong performer for her state again this year and also represented the Australia U18 team as a member of the 2024 Marsh AFL National Academy. Impressed at senior level in the WAFL this season, averaging 20.3 disposals, seven tackles and four clearances in nine matches for South Fremantle. Her elite athletic ability was eye-catching at the national Draft Combine, where she ranked second in the 2km time trial (7:35) and third in the running vertical jump (63cm).

Eliza Reilly has reported on Code Sports that It's understood that Melbourne (pick 2) and GWS (pick 3) have both flown to Perth this week to interview O'Hehir. She didn't have the best National Championships due to a nasty combination of illnesses but all things point towards Molly being the first WA product picked. 

@Langers15 thanks. Molly has a really solid personality and desire to succeed.  She would fit into the club. Love to see if we chose her.  Pace. Strength. Footy smarts.  Brings a taller onballer mix.
