AFLW: Rd 07 (Game 2) vs St Kilda

Featured Replies

Our injury problems are starting to ease thankfully but still a tough road to make finals from here.

The Saints at Moorabbin won't be easy, especially coming off a short break, but if we show the same grit and determination as we did midweek we can win.

Fatigue is my big worry. We emptied the tank against the Crows and very difficult to recover in 4 days. But we have some fresh legs coming in so that will help.

I'm backing us to make it 3 wins on the trot to put us right back into finals contention

Go Dees

Unbelievable AFLW draw. 3 1/2 day break.  Really.  Expect fatigue could be a factor. Oh and yes, it’s 3 1/2 days after an interstate travel.
Low scoring affair. I think it’s only a goal or less at the end.
Go Dees 💙❤️💙❤️

#LivingstoneWakeUp your schedule is rubbish.

Saints only have 1 extra day break than us, and this will be their third game in ten days (our third in 11 days). So fatigue is definitely going to be a factor for both sides, and one might handle it more than others.

We've brought back three key players - Zanker, Paxy and Purcell, and the three out (Colvin, D'Arcy and Johnson have been amongst our lowest TOG).

My biggest concern is whether bringing these three in upsets the changes to structure and team balance that saw us with the last two games. Hopefully not.

Good start. Hanks and McNarama excellent so far

Having the returning-from-injury fresh legs of Zanker, Purcell and Paxman all at once might be a pretty powerful effect in the circumstances.

Dees getting an exceptional run with the umps for once!

Huge quarter for Zanks, Banno and Gall to go big

The meatball has been a disappointment so far. Hopefully it clicks for her soon

These holding the ball decisions are yuck.

Mucking around with it because they’ve lost faith in hitting tall targets inside 50. Come on girls, pick a target out, put some air in the kick, it’s not too hard

She's doing fine for a first year player. Obvious that she has the class and isn't afraid of contact. The rest will come with time.

She'll be fine, hasn't quite adjusted to the pace yet but when it comes together she'll be an excellent forward.

She’s dead scared of winning a hard ball and - whilst it might be fitness related - she’s slow. You take a small forward at the top of the draft it’s not unreasonable to want them to have some wheels

She's doing fine. It's clear that she is a natural footballer. Any other week her goal last week would have been goal of the round. Obviously got plenty to improve on but I have no doubt the coaches would be happy with how she has started her career.

Lily Mithen you are now on the hate list

  • PREGAME: St. Kilda

With just over two weeks until their opening match of the 2026 AFL Premiership season, the Demons are already well on the path to redemption and have the Saints firmly in their sights ahead of their mid-March clash at the MCG. What do you think the team will look like when they run out on to the G?

  • NON-MFC: 2026 Opening Round

Finally the 2026 AFL Premiership Season is upon us. While Melbourne sits out Opening Round, there is still plenty of footy to enjoy with five non-MFC clashes to kick off the new season. It all begins on Thursday night with a blockbuster at the SCG as Sydney hosts Carlton in what should be a strong early test for both sides. On Friday night, Gold Coast gets its chance to open the season in front of a home crowd when the Suns and Christian Petracca take on Geelong at People First Stadium. Saturday features a double-header, starting in the afternoon with Greater Western Sydney and Clayton Oliver meeting the Hawks at Engie Stadium. That is followed on Saturday night by Brisbane Lions hosting the Western Bulldogs at the Gabba, with the Lions embarking on their campaign to win the Threepeat. Opening Round wraps up on Sunday night at the MCG, where St Kilda takes on Collingwood in the only game in town in the first week of the season. There is no shortage of storylines across the round, so discuss all the action from the non-MFC games of Opening Round.

  • REPORT: Richmond

Mars is not usually a place known for lighting strikes but on Friday evening it happened twice in the vicinity of the stadium in Ballarat that carries the name and is a half completed building site with limited capacity for spectators.

  • VOTES: Richmond

Kozzy Pickett was the man of the match last week and has a vote lead over backup ruck Max Heath who didn't play this week and 5 votes over former Saint Jack Steele. Who gets the votes in this weeks shortened match win over the Tigers? Your votes please. 6, 5, 4, 3, 2 & 1.

It's Game Day and the 2026 AFL Premiership season is almost upon us as the Demons take to the field for their final practice match before the first ball is kicked in anger in 16 days time. What are you expecting to see from the Dees today as they take on the Tigers at Mars Stadium in Ballarat?
