The thing that worries me with these so called super drafts is in reality they only become super drafts 3-5 years down the track. There's been plenty of busts picked at 9. Whilst I trust JT to get them right we can ill afford to not nail the picks we get. There's no doubt 2, perhaps 3 standouts in the top 10 this year and I don't want Carlton taking the guy we're chasing. Twomey thinks we may try to trade our picks again, it's going to be interesting viewing that's for sure.

don’t worry Roost

Carlton are just as likely if not more so, to get their pick wrong

The top 10 is stacked. More than 2 or 3 guns

Carlton just got pick 3 for 12, 14 and Matt Owies. WC then gives 14 for Liam Baker. That is horrendous business from Wet Toast. All of it.

That's thoroughly embarrassing if it's true. Surely there's more to it.

So West Coast lose pick 3 and they have to take Owies as well?!?

When looking at these trades you have to bear in mind how this draft is rated. Carlton gave up a future first and second to get 14. We gave up a future first a second and a heap of lesser picks for 9. West Coast should get two good players at 12&14 plus Owies as steak knives. It’s a good deal for them.

Carlton rumoured to be after FOS, I’m hoping we land Langford or Lalor so don’t mind them jumping into 3.

FOS looks a beauty.

West Coast trading 3 for mid teens picks and 2 out of contract players in Baker and Owies, yikes. Steal for the Blues.

Gotta be one of the worst trades I can recall, dees could have split pick 5 for that and given that to blues and then done the same trade, efficiency getting 3 for 5 for all the sense this trade makes

Hilarious if North keep 2 or trade it and that club or North takes FOS, if that is the boy Carlton want as reported.

Brisbane lost 228 points here... might mean they're willing to make those points up with 49 for Sharp, which is 287 points.

They got 12, Baker and Owies for 3 and will probably get a local boy still there at 12.

All I can say is that WC must REALLY want Baker

Ooze must be wetting himself with 6 picks inside the top 24!

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
