Preparation… ?!?!?!!!?!

Simon Goodwin will coach the Dees versus the GWS Giants on Saturday night despite spending the past three nights in hospital.

Goodwin copped an infection at the start of the week that required an intermittent IV drip.

He was part of team meetings via Zoom during the week and discharged on Saturday morning.

Can't question the bloke's commitment.

No, not dead, he won't get fined by the police, but the AFL Commish own the game and they set the rules, of which the players have agreed to and signed off on

Sounds like a gag order to me

I hope we can do so much better in Australia

TMac is still in tracksuit top talking to staff on the sidelines during the warmup?

Yep .

Not a fan of number 20 either         ( Nichols).

Yeah, nah.

Not 20

Definitely not 22.

Or 35, or 14,

Not overly fond of 25 or 19 either

There must be one that’s okay?

Maybe?
Can anyone think of one?

Ivo Crapp was a much better umpire than his surname would suggest.

Lady at the gate said they’re expecting 23,000. I think they overestimated by 20,000.

Lowered expectations?

I'd say so, almost feel like I have to ask someone for a key to get in.

Props to all you have fronted up at the G tonight to root for us.

No puns on root please .

Embarrassing turnout. It’s not even raining.
Really poor. Don’t complain when we get 4.40 Sunday games all year.

Ridiculous huh. They’ve made him delete the comments. Truth hurts, clearly.

Absolutely.
He should’ve stuck to his guns.
There is more than enough evidence to support his claim.

I understand keeping a lid on the umpire criticism, but The Corporation should not be immune from criticism.
They are not the CCP.

The giants song is pretty catchy

Makes me think of a Disney / Pixar animated movie about big-footed little people. Maybe like in Frozen - those rock people.

GWS song is a bop. I’ll hear nothing bad about it.

That would be awesome

Apparently Angus from Cat Empire wrote it. Quality.

For who? Certainly not for our bank account.

It really is a pitiful crowd. I reckon North might have got more down in Hobart today.

Very much so, one of the more robust tunes.

Gee just read goody was in hospital for 3 days. Gee that's no good.

Anyway at least the rain has cleared for now.

Robbo is going to have a tough night getting the crowd going

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

When looking back at the disastrous end to the game, I find it a waste of time to concentrate on the final few moments when utter confusion reigned. Forget the 6-6-6 mess, the failure to mark the most dangerous man on the field, the inability to seal the game when opportunities presented themselves to Clayton Oliver, Harry Petty and Charlie Spargo, the vision of match winning players of recent weeks in Kozzy Pickett and Jake Melksham spending helpless minutes on the interchange bench and the powerlessness of seizing the opportunity to slow the tempo of the game down in those final moments.

  • CASEY: Sandringham

The Casey Demons rebounded from a sluggish start to manufacture a decisive win against Sandringham in the final showdown, culminating a quarter century of intense rivalry between the fluctuating alignments of teams affiliated with AFL clubs Melbourne and St Kilda, as the Saints and the Zebras prepare to forge independent paths in 2026. After conceding three of the first four goals of the match, the Demons went on a goal kicking rampage instigated by the winning ruck combination of Tom Campbell with 26 hitouts, 26 disposals and 13 clearances and his apprentice Will Verrall who contributed 20 hitouts. This gave first use of the ball to the likes of Jack Billings, Bayley Laurie, Riley Bonner and Koltyn Tholstrup who was impressive early. By the first break they had added seven goals and took a strong grip on the game. The Demons were well served up forward early by Mitch Hardie and, as the game progressed, Harry Sharp proved a menace with a five goal performance. Emerging young forwards Matthew Jefferson and Luker Kentfield kicked two each but the former let himself down with some poor kicking for goal.
Young draft talent Will Duursma showed the depth of his talent and looks well out of reach for Melbourne this year. Kalani White was used sparingly and had a brief but uneventful stint in the ruck.

The Demons return to the scene of the crime on Saturday to face the wooden spooners the Eagles at the Docklands. Who comes in and who goes out? Like moving deck chairs on the Titanic.
