I've said this before and will repeat myself.

It's time to get rid of the NGA's...

The AFL need to do it's job and promote the game and a fair draft.

I’m not gonna lie. I don’t understand the rookie draft on how old players can get listed as rookies, or the NGA access. Anyone can explain it simply?

absolutely not

throw confetti in the air and whatever you can catch is whatever the rule is this week

it won't be changed for tairon but we might get his little brother

Maybe not as the Saints are lobbying to expand their Dandenong (Stingrays) zone into the part we have. We are lobbying to get some of theirs.

If we lose part or all of Dandy zone not sure what we have left with any aussie rules clubs except Alice.

Who knows if the AFL decide to give the Saints a helping hand as we have a relatively recent premiership 🙅🏻‍♀️

AFL cracks down on player eligibility in NGA revamp

Clubs must spend more time with Next Generation Academy prospects and register their interest earlier in order to get priority draft access

these are positive changes

Just kill the whole academy system and father son [censored] it just unbalances the whole comp. Make it fair all round, the only way to properly do it, until that happens it will always be skewed unfairly and that isn't right.

i completely disagree, its necessary to grow the game in multicultural backgrounds, the ability to list non drafted NGA prospects from other clubs is huge too as you arent entirely being shafted by a poor zone.

also talk about conpromised when the afl is handing west coast mid round picks that perfectly amount to what they need to execute pre-established trades and these tassie handouts where they must trade picks even if they can't find a player they like and might prefer to draft players and then get to roll them if they dont like whats on offer, could be 2035 before they actually use them, thats compromised.

NGAs you now pay fair value and are responsible for having significant contributions to their development, they have corrected eligibility to take out the aussies whos parents worked overseas and were pregnant and have added South american and pacific eligibility giving us Ah-Mu's brother as an option down the line.

then theres the locked Cat B spot for NGA rookies meaning we can have mentha and berry as B and still list Sinnema as B too therefore having 3 Bs (how i read it anyway) or maybe mentha also being NGA and not irish/basketball instead cancels that out im not sure

If I have to watch George Gawn in any other colours I’ll be shattered. Hard even listening to him sing other teams songs now

So they changed it again the year after we have someone we can’t draft this year?

I'd really like to know if any other clubs are affected in the same way as us with Tairon Ah-Mu.
What is the harm in allowing someone who would be eligible next year be available as an NGA this year?
What is the disadvantage to other clubs?

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
