Why do so many people think that the answer lies with developing talls yet to play a game yet?

BTW if you thought Petty was bodied off it a lot tonight then Jefferson would have been suplexed from pillar to post.

I don't know what Fullerton stands for but if they didn't select him tonight it tells you everything you need to know.

I also don't know what we'll do next week for Jackson and Darcy and I reserve the right to not know. The answer probably isn't Petty but it's getting late and I'm tired.

I'm much more worried about Freo next week, because not only are their rucks better, but their midfield is better.

Agree on Fullarton though. The nuffy on SEN comparing Petty to Weideman. Fullarton is a lot more reminiscent of the Weid.

People just like to complain though.

Imagine the Kolt in 2 or 3 years time after he bulks up a bit in the gym.

He would be a real unit I reckon.

Yeah! but I gotta tell between watching Lulu's TO SIR WITH LOVE and  Ace ( Paul Carricks) HOW LONG has this been going on,) I have arrived at the conclusion that this was a win for the ages, but really  gotta get games into Jeffo coz Petty aint a Ruck  and aint a forward

How nice to have some Joy though?

We have had a lot of adversity lately.

Gives me so much hope that these blokes actually have something about them.

They seem to love each other, and that film about Kozzie going home and images of Koz with his baby girl at all the team huddles and stuff. Love all that!

Ok champ, tell me who was in your bottom 3 for us then?

If i'm a champ then your a chump.

Unless we are losing a game I'm not one to be a negative nelly on the bottom 3-5 players, that says more about you.

I could understand if Draper had uncontrollable influence on the game, but he had f all influence.

Harry wasn't great in terms of stats tonight but he did his job which would have been laid out in front of him by Simon,Staf, Chocco etc to quell Draper's influence on the game.

I would have thought the overall consensus would be that conditions didn't allow for talls to flourish tonight, the only one that did was Mckay, I thought he was superb for them.

Their mids we soundly beaten tonight by our midfield which also highlights the efforts of Petts, JVR and DT.

JVR wasn't great in terms of stats either, but contributed in the ruck department.

DT had a good game and kicked some ripper goals and competed strongly in the contest.

These lads are sacrificing their games for the betterment of the team collective, being a team player, are you a team player @supdeano ? or are you a debbie downer over the smallest things?

Petty is not a ruckman we all know it, he knows it, the coaches know it so why are you kicking the [censored] out of him?

More than happy for the coaches to role around with the same setup as tonight, it worked and that's all that matters.

Enjoy the win, be more of a supporter if you actually are and lay off the negative side of things and spoil it for others after a courageous win.

Best win of the year for me.

Our young players are guns.

There is a future.

Sorry, don't agree.

From the Casey games I watched this year I haven't seen anything like a dominant performance from either Fullarton or Verrall, particularly against the stronger often non AFL listed rucks. Samson Ryan from Richmond absolutely smashed them both earlier this year

Moniz-Wakefield? [censored] yeah.

If Max doesn’t play , they will go with the same set up.

Van Rooyen as the main ruck with  Petty and Turner relieving him.

Blind Freddie can see that the Roo has come of age in the last few games.
you can rely on him now to give you a contest every time.

After just watching the replay to me me he was amidst the most important player as he quelled the influence of their supposed ruck advantage.

Srsly though, McVee, Turner, JvR, Windsor, Moniz-Wakefield and Kolt….

The future is bright.

Turner is a helluva competitor too hey?

I wouldn't wish tracs injury on anyone,  but it's given rivers a crack at the midfield & so far he's smashed it & taking his chances.

Exactly, it made us find something else and it’s bloody worked!

Rivers in the middle plus our forward line us the best it’s looked in a very long time.

Melbourne's pressure and tackling was relentless and Essendon rarely had an uninterrupted disposal. I reckon that was the difference. Was interested to watch the strategy to nullify Essendon's rucks by rotating Petty, JVR and DT. JVR ended up being the most effective but I saw some great efforts by the other two. Niggles, pushes, fends. Fascinating and satisfying to see these players step up in Max's absence. I was so proud to be there and watch us win a "must win game" and force our way back into the top 8.

Looking forward to the strategy adopted to nullify the rucks against Fremantle in the west next week...

Judd McVee was huge.

Bumping Stringer off the ball for that contested mark was a thing of beauty.

How can someone with elite pace, elite decision making, laser like foot skills with plenty of toughness and deceptively strong one on one abilities slip through to the rookie draft?

Yes, and super clean. Did he fumble it once tonight?

Great win by the Dees! Rivers really stepping up in the absence of Petracca 👍

Missed the 3rd qtr and the early part of the 4th qtr as my wi-fi hot spot (or the AFL overseas app?) was playing up but seemed like a balanced, all round good showing by the Dees. The experience the younger players are getting is valuable for the future.

Back for the continuation of my evening swim ... a warm evening here on the Adriatic coast in Croatia 🏖 😃

Carn the Dees ... well and truly still in the finals hunt despite missing some stars 😈

A non-dominant ruckman is completely redundant in todays game. You don't bring a guy like Fullarton in just for the sake of it when he hasn't been much more than serviceable at VFL level.

Because they know nothing about the developing talls they are talking about, other than their name isn't Petty.

  • GAMEDAY: Geelong

It's Game Day, and reinforcements are finally arriving for the Demons—but will it be too little, too late? They're heading down the freeway to face a Cats side returning home to their fortress after two straight losses, desperate to reignite their own season. Can the Demons breathe new life into their campaign, or will it slip even further from their grasp?

  • PREVIEW: Geelong

"It's officially time for some alarm bells. I'm concerned about the lack of impact from their best players." This comment about one of the teams contesting this Friday night’s game came earlier in the week from a so-called expert radio commentator by the name of Kane Cornes. He wasn’t referring to the Melbourne Football Club but rather, this week’s home side, Geelong. The Cats are purring along with 1 win and 2 defeats and a percentage of 126.2 (courtesy of a big win at GMHBA Stadium in Round 1 vs Fremantle) which is one win more than Melbourne and double the percentage so I guess that, in the case of the Demons, its not just alarm bells, but distress signals. But don’t rely on me. Listen to Cornes who said this week about Melbourne:- “They can’t run. If you can’t run at speed and get out of the contest then you’re in trouble.

  • NON-MFC: Round 04

Round 4 kicks off with a blockbuster on Thursday night as traditional rivals Collingwood and Carlton clash at the MCG, with the Magpies looking to assert themselves as early-season contenders and the Blues seeking their first win of the season. Saturday opens with Gold Coast hosting Adelaide, a key test for the Suns as they aim to back up their big win last week, while the Crows will be looking to keep their perfect record intact. Reigning wooden spooners Richmond have the daunting task of facing reigning premiers Brisbane at the ‘G and the Lions will be eager to reaffirm their premiership credentials after a patchy start. Saturday night sees North Melbourne take on Sydney at Marvel Stadium, with the Swans looking to build on their first win of the season last week against a rebuilding Roos outfit.
Sunday’s action begins with GWS hosting West Coast at ENGIE Stadium, a game that could get ugly very early for the visitors. Port Adelaide vs St Kilda at Adelaide Oval looms as a interesting clash, with both clubs form being very hard to read. The round wraps up with Fremantle taking on the Western Bulldogs at Optus Stadium in what could be a fierce contest between two sides with top-eight ambitions. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons besides us winning?

  • CASEY: Gold Coast

For a brief period of time in the early afternoon of yesterday, the Casey Demons occupied top place on the Smithy’s VFL table. This was only made possible by virtue of the fact that the team was the only one in this crazy competition to have played twice and it’s 1½ wins gave it an unassailable lead on the other 20 teams, some of who had yet to play a game.

  • REPORT: Gold Coast

In my all-time nightmare game, the team is so ill-disciplined that it concedes its first two goals with the courtesy of not one, but two, fifty metre penalties while opening its own scoring with four behinds in a row and losing a talented youngster with good decision-making skills and a lethal left foot kick, subbed off in the first quarter with what looks like a bad knee injury.
