Jefferson, great work, poor finish.

Howes, great work, poor finish.

this is very much the case at this stage

jefferson showing a lot as the primary forward

Must goal here, Casey finally controlling and locking in the f50

AMW nice extraction. Casey goal!

Tholstrup has finally realised that Verrall is right-handed. Things are looking up?

No โ€“ just in time for Fullarton to go back into ruck ย

ย

neocleus reduces the margin to 9 points

amw and howes working together nicely defensively this quarter, chaining it out of defensive positions and either one or the other gets the clearing kick forward

Awful verrel turn over leads to goal

that was appalling defensive work from casey, again

tom freeman swore he touched it but it looked like it bounced over his head, pitched in the square, turned right, and trundled thru for kyle weightman's third goal

casey doesn't apply pressure consistently enough for long enough

amw with a slips catch on half back, jefferson marks on the edge of the 50, hits fullarton in the pocket...goal

he's a pre-season away from being able to play a key forward role at afl level, but jefferson shows a heap of promise

We have pretty no small or speed forwards at the momen, Kynan, Tholstrup and Sestan all being played in the midfield and struggling to pressure at the same time

Barely a Casey player worth mentioning against a team consisting of Doutta Stars and South Morang players. Embarrassing.ย  A number of people were calling for Fullarton to replace Petty. Laughable. Petty at his very worst offers 10 times more than Fullarton.ย

Any time Andy gets involved in play we seem to run and carry a lot better, reminds of Rivers

We have a small forward crumbing goal sneak who brings some pressure i50 but we prefer to use him down back 100% of time this season for some reason.ย  ย I'm still not sure why given we have no quality smalls.

And pls don't throw Neocleous in there.ย  Guy can barely kick over a barn door

As part of the effort to trim the runtime of the regular podcast, weโ€™ve been looking at which segments could be reshaped without losing what makes them valuable. One segment that naturally came into focus was Binmanโ€™s Stats Files. Not because it isnโ€™t important; quite the opposite. Itโ€™s become such a substantial and much-loved part of the show that it deserves a little room to breathe.

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

One of the big stories of the AFL off-season was the spending spree of Melbourneโ€™s Round 1 opponent, St Kilda. They splashed out heavily, first to retain Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera - the hero of last yearโ€™s epic come-from-behind miracle victory -turning him into a $2 million man. They then effectively took out an expensive overdraft to recruit a string of expensive players from other clubs. It was a risky investment strategy and, although itโ€™s still early days, it certainly failed to pay off in Sundayโ€™s season opener, with much of the glitter turning to foolโ€™s gold.
