Lots of time to kill before we kill Geelong tomorrow night.  Fancy an EASY challenge?

Here's an  undemanding, uncomplicated and unexacting undertaking for you all.

Below is a team (in position) of current and recent MFC players.   It's a pretty strong side with plenty of marking power up forward, although the on-ball division could use an injection of class.

You know the drill:

*  What is the common factor that connects them all?

Answers in a PM only if you would, please.

===============================================================

B:       Trent Rivers     Chris Lamb     Jake Lever

H/B:   Daniel Ward     Sam Frost     Colin Garland

C:       Robert Flower     Tom Sparrow     Steven Stretch

H/F:   Kade Chandler     Warren Dean     Brad Miller

F:       Ben Beams     Brad Green     Martin Pike

R:       Stefan Martin     Daniel Cross     Rohan Bail

I/C:    Jake Spencer     Daniel Bell     Jayden Hunt     Oskar Baker

SUB:   Tom Couch

Easy.   They are all male.

Second place has been claimed by a poster I'll call A. N. Onymous who shuns the limelight but still takes home the SILVER for correctly identifying the connection.

Another new player in @demosaw has opened his account with the correct answer.

All medals have been won, but I can award a participatory DENIM.

A bit later than usual, but @Timothy Reddan-A'Blew has predictably nutted out the answer.

I'll leave the teaser up overnight for others to grapple with should they wish to do so.

It would be in potential solvers' interests to look at the players' names closely.

Thanks, Mr D. I'll look forward to the participatory POLYESTER in the mail.

No more takers?  I'll give it another couple of hours before the big reveal.

Don't do, don't describe, just be!

Now, now, Mr D!

Homophonically...

Yes thrillseekers, all the players in my team share their surname with the name of something.

In other words, all their surnames are also nouns.

I've got another teaser ready to go but I'll give them a rest for now.

Surnames are always nouns.

You are correct in that surnames are proper* nouns but that doesn't apply to my team.  They all share a surname with an actual thing, an object in real life.

Yours is probably improper.  :D

Curiously, his is adjectival!

The Demons return to town fresh off a thumping win over the back-to-back wooden spooners, the West Coast Eagles, played in front of a sparse crowd at Marvel Stadium, the same venue that hosted last week's heartbreaking loss.

  • PREVIEW: West Coast

It was bad enough that the Melbourne Football Club created yet another humiliating scenario inside its wretched season at Marvel Stadium last Sunday, but the final insult is that it has been commanded to return to the scene of the crime to inflict further punishment on its fans this week. Incidentally, if this match preview, of a game that promises to be one of the most unattractive fixtures in the history of the game, happens to cut out of your computer screen three quarters of the way through, it’s no coincidence. I’ll be mirroring the Demons’ lacklustre effort against St Kilda from last Sunday when they conceded the largest last quarter turnaround for victory in the history of the game.

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

When looking back at the disastrous end to the game, I find it a waste of time to concentrate on the final few moments when utter confusion reigned. Forget the 6-6-6 mess, the failure to mark the most dangerous man on the field, the inability to seal the game when opportunities presented themselves to Clayton Oliver, Harry Petty and Charlie Spargo, the vision of match winning players of recent weeks in Kozzy Pickett and Jake Melksham spending helpless minutes on the interchange bench and the powerlessness of seizing the opportunity to slow the tempo of the game down in those final moments.
