At least you have seen finals as a teenager.

When I was 17 I hadn't even seen the Dees in the finals!!!!

Stop your whinging and consider yourself lucky!

Normally I would say Go Dees but I don't want them to go. From here on in it's about draft picks and developing youth; in that order.

Have to agree, it will be better for the club in the long run now if we keep losing. We need a clean out, give up on making the finals even next year. Look to 2009 at the earliest, clean out the dead wood, they are never going to make it. Poor performance today, whatever lame excuses we come up with

If the MFC gave a damn about their supporters, they would make the hard decisions.

We have too many player's along for the ride, and what's amazing is most of these players are senior player's. Get 'em out very soon, including the coach. Sure jump down my throat if you like, but a successful season is one that wins you the flag. I ain't gonna settle for finishing 5-8th anymore. If it takes doing a St Kilda, Hawthorn & Western Bulldogs to make us a genuine premiership contender, so be it. I, like most of the MFC faithful are sick and tired of this cr@p.

Melbourne is a pathetic excuse for a football club. Things must change now...

Yes lets do what it takes to get Matthew Pavlich!!!!

If it means Draft Picks or a player like Brad Green Lets get him NOW!!!

Yep agree, totally agree.

Atleast this years trading period the mfc will be very active (if they wake up from their self-deceit) and of course, if any team is game to recruit any players.

No more of this Yoga crap Bodan or whatever his name is promotes, the MFC need to go back to the basics of football.

post-season trade and draft time is fast becoming the thing i'm waiting for. Not our first win.

i ve followed the dees long enough to see them get flogged in 2 grannies and the current player list is no better or worse than any i ve seen in that period. its just full of good average players like theyve all been.

I agree Kramer unfortunately theres nothing worse than watching a side getting to a grannie and getting flogged, If we are to make one I want to see a side who use ruthless, and will put in a fight.

Maybe our best chance was when we didnt even make the Grand Final, If only Jimmy stynes hadnt given the free to Gary Buckanara, history might be different.

And as far as waiting for a Flag , My old man is still waiting for the saints to win one.

I have followed th Dees for 44 years and todays effort was one of the worst I have ever seen.

The only blokes who have any physicality are Whelan, Jones, Sylvia. Johnstone tried as did Ward and Petterd. Bell tried hard but lacks skill and judgement. The others are pathetic and in my opinion do not want to play hard committed running football. I watched the game on Foxtel and I can honestly say, the tackling was the most inspid weak gutted disgusting display I have seen from the Dees. We need to go and watch the Storm play and tackle. We look like a bunch of schoolboys running aroung playing against men. If WCE had kicked straight they would have won by way over 100 points.

Immediate departures from this team should be numerous, in fact names who people consider to be good players and our supposed good players in Green , Bruce McDonald all play like weaklings. Compare those three to Judd Kerr and Braun and even the WCE new players look more like men than the seasoned Dees.

I could not get over how when Miller, Neitz etc missed the mark they would just stand there and let the Eagles run away, absolutely pathetic. Miller is just a shell of his former self and the Club should do everyone a favor by giving him a run at Sandy.

Poor old Ferg was getting killed by Hansen before he got injured and I am afraid he should never play again for the Dees, he is not up to it physically.

Carroll kept falling over and has lost the ability to keep his eyes on the ball, at least Holland stands up to it and looks at the ball, he would have been better against Lynch.

If I was Daniher I would resign because what I saw today was as bad or worse as when he started 10 years ago and you know what happened to that coach.

I know how you feel. We have our first one due next week, and obviously there are alot of costs involved with your first bambino. It gets depressing paying big bucks in a yearly membership plus the costs of going to games throughout the year when we get shiite served up to us like this year after year. I don't mind so much that we haven't won a premiership (WTF am I saying!!!), it's just when the team gives up 'so [censored] easily' (been watching Hell's Kitchen so I borrowed this quote from Gordon ;) ) that you begin to question your commitment.

I'd like to feel sorry for the older guys...

But consider this... You've had 20, 30 maybe 40 years of this...

The younger ones among us have our whole LIVES to watch demon mediocrity.

At least when I was 17 I attended my 5th GF and watched the then mighty demons win another flag (their 4th of the 5 - damn 1958!).

I've put up with a lot of misery since. Few losses were more insipid than today's. I've seen far bigger losses, but with far more effort. Today was unforgivable.

We might be young (I'm 21) But we understand how bloody scary it is that we could have years more of this crap! Don't get me wrong I feel so sorry for the older guys I mean at least I've seen us in finals but the thought that the next 10-15 years could be just wiped out is not very appealing. Unless something really changes round this club I could certainly not see it happening in the next 5.

I was there in 87' when Jimmy ran over the mark. And when we got flogged in the granny in 88'.And unfortunately I dont think our club has gone anywhere in that 20 years.

  • REPORT: Richmond

The fans who turned up to the MCG for Melbourne’s Anzac Day Eve clash against Richmond would have been disappointed if they turned up to see a great spectacle. As much as this was a night for the 71,635 in attendance to commemorate heroes of the nation’s past wars, it was also a time for the Melbourne Football Club to consolidate upon its first win after a horrific start to the 2025 season. On this basis, despite the fact that it was an uninspiring and dour struggle for most of its 100 minutes, the night will be one for the fans to remember. They certainly got value out of the pre match activity honouring those who fought for their country. The MCG and the lights of the city as backdrop was made for nights such as these and, in my view, we received a more inspirational ceremony of Anzac culture than others both here and elsewhere around the country.

  • CASEY: Richmond

The match up of teams competing in our great Aussie game at its second highest level is a rarity for a work day Thursday morning but the blustery conditions that met the players at a windswept Casey Fields was something far more commonplace. They turned the opening stanza between the Casey Demons and a somewhat depleted Richmond VFL into a mess of fumbling unforced errors, spilt marks and wasted opportunities for both sides but they did set up a significant win for the home team which is exactly what transpired on this Anzac Day round opener. Casey opened up strong against the breeze with the first goal to Aidan Johnson, the Tigers quickly responded and the game degenerated into a defensive slog and the teams were level when the first siren sounded.

  • POSTGAME: Richmond

After five consecutive defeats, the Demons have now notched up back-to-back victories, comfortably accounting for the Tigers in the traditional ANZAC Eve clash. They surged to a commanding 44-point lead early in the final quarter before easing off the pedal, resting skipper Max Gawn and conceding the last four goals of the game to close out a solid 20-point win.
