Won't go down well with the flogger wavers on this site but the opinion was asked for.

As far as I know I’m the *sole flogger waver here, surely you’re not referring to me, Layz. 😉 🙃 🫣

*In terms of regular contributors, that is. A couple of my fellow flogger wavers read DL but rarely -  if ever - post on here. (Hey guys! 👋  Seeya at the next working bee!🥰)

No we need those flogger wavers.

Just not the ones that pick you off with a shotgun when you say you aren't sure about top 4!

And honestly they're fine too, I don't care.

I’m both types then. 🤭 Except I wouldn’t pick anyone off with a shotgun. I’m more of a slowly torture someone into submission kinda gal. 😁

I'm getting a nagging feeling we might just explode this season.  Possibly in a bad way, but I think we could just as likely explode in a good way and not just be compeditive, but really dominate the competition on the way to that illusive flag at the G.

Starting to get a little impatient with the off season too and thinking about counting down the days till Rd 1, oh - wait does that even work?!

I'm not interested in an illusive flag.  I want a real one!

No doubt in my mind we’ll be in the top 4-5 teams competing for the flag. The Clarry sitch is a major concern but we just need to see what happens there.( i have low expectations there). we need tall fwds to stand up and a consistent fwd line that the mids can get used to kicking to. We need to regain that hungry winning mentality in finals. we have good kids coming in which will help. there are no unbeatable teams out there so we are in the mix

We did OK last year whilst Clarry was supposedly hamstrung. I'm confident that with Rivers spending more time midfield (not unlike Young at Freo) and Gus moving to the inside, we'll fill any need for midfield talent.

My wish is that McQualter works on our midfield/forward connection. I have little faith that Goodwin can improve that without a fresh face on the coaching panel. Improve our i50 conversions and keep the injuries to a minimum and we should make the grannie

Must admit I’m feeling less confident for the ultimate success in 2024 as the season approaches. ☹️

We need to get some positive news soon!

Hopefully someone will train the house down this week. Please…

We will be in the mix this year. I have absolutely no doubt about this. We have recruited well and a number of our younger players will step up . We have been a force to be reckoned with for three years now.

The more the media drills in on our finals losses just cements the fact that they see as a major threat.

There may be a couple of issues at present but nothing that will makes us fall of the cliff. I also doubt that our forward line will be so decimated by injuries again.

Hold on good Demonlanders.

It's time to be excited.

This will be the year of the Deeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.

Despite the Press’s constant niggling and rehashing our two problem children’s storyline’s I am feeling extremely confident that we are in a similar phase as we were at the end of 2020. Our list is disappointed and hungry, we have recruited to fill needs and we have a number of youngsters that will be pushing for spots in the team. We are ready and primed, we may not win the first nine games but we will be in contention when it counts.!!!

  • REPORT: Fremantle

For this year’s Easter Saturday game at the MCG, Simon Goodwin and his Demons wound the clock back a few years to wipe out the horrible memories of last season’s twin thrashings at the hands of the Dockers. And it was about time! Melbourne’s indomitable skipper Max Gawn put in a mammoth performance in shutting out his immediate opponent Sean Darcy in the ruck and around the ground and was a colossus at the end when the game was there to be won or lost. It was won by 16.11.107 to 14.13.97. There was the battery-charged Easter Bunny in Kysaiah Pickett running anyone wearing purple ragged, whether at midfield stoppages or around the big sticks. He finish with a five goal haul.

  • CASEY: UWS Giants

The Casey Demons took on an undefeated UWS Giants outfit at their own home ground on a beautiful autumn day but found themselves completely out of their depth going down by 53 points against a well-drilled and fair superior combination. Despite having 15 AFL listed players at their disposal - far more than in their earlier matches this season - the Demons were never really in the game and suffered their second defeat in a row after their bright start to the season when they drew with the Kangaroos, beat the Suns and matched the Cats for most of the day on their own dung heap at Corio Bay. The Giants were a different proposition altogether. They had a very slight wind advantage in the opening quarter but were too quick off the mark for the Demons, tearing the game apart by the half way mark of the term when they kicked the first five goals with clean and direct football.
