His post bye form did not build on the solid pre-bye form. Happy to put that down to first year fatigue.

Our gameplan is a tough one for a forward. Quick one on one delivery is not our forte

He easily has the most upside potential of any of our forwards not only because as everyone says he needs to bulk up and is obviously doing so, but his height, telescopic arms and soft hands marking the ball like fritsch impress me most.

Can't sugar-coated that. Pretty dismal efforts for a high pick after a full season in the VFL.

Good call. That is really poor form and that should be the focus, not what he might be able to do.

stinga - do you seriously rate him over JVR?  Hope you are right but that is a huge call.

I don’t think many first year players are flying at the end of their first season.

Let’s hope he has a huge pre season and sees the year out better in 24. You’d hope he’d be in selection talks by 2nd half of season.

Really think people over exaggerate where a first year player should be at. The season was quite long. My gripe is that Casey is not the best development ground ATM. TMac, Schace list clogger and Brown, down there probably has been a negative in that regards.

No just that he has more upside from where he was last year.   JVR still has a lot of upside to come but it will be incremental

Let the boy grow into the man's body then make your assumptions.

He's shown enough and produced on occasions to indicate their is enough potential to work with.

If he's willing to work on his deficiencies, listen to coaches and has a good work ethic he will make it.

I really think our list management thought they'd get another year (2023) out of Brown or TMac, with 2024 being their transition year and Jefferson maybe playing a few games but coming on in 2025 as a replacement.

From a list longevity perspective, I'm kind of happy we didn't sell the farm for a 29 year old KPF this year, and instead recruited Tholstrup who we hope will develop into an A Grader (dangerous impact player). But that strategy does require Jefferson and JVR to come on as expected over the next 2 years.

He might do a McVee and surprise us all?

I think eventually he will become a taller version of Fritsch or a shorter King, rather than a solid Brown or McDonald

Sheezle has played 40 games already

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.
