Let Kevin entertain you - NSW Demons Swans v Dees pre-game

If you haven’t already, seize the opportunity to mingle among the faithful in a ā€œtheatregoer freeā€ zone – a rarity at the SCG – and be entertained by Australia’s pre-eminent Aboriginal comedian Kevin Kropinyeri.

Kevin is a friend of the NSW Demons and has a very close – some would say genetic – link to the Club. Being Kozzy’s dad would do that.

ā€œKevin is one of Australia’s most established and popular Aboriginal comedians with a long list of Australian TV credits. A proud Aboriginal man from the Ngarrindjeri Nation of the lower River Murray, Lakes and Coorong region in South Australia, Kevin is a high-energy performer -Ā Ā sharp, likeable, silly and measured; mixing keen observational standup with joyfully ridiculous physical comedy. His engaging brand of comedy warmly invites both Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal audiences to share his journey, his culture, his life.ā€

As well as Kevin you get:

  • A wide selection of ā€œgrazing optionsā€ in keeping with the club’s status as the league leaders in charcuterie. Drinks at bar prices.
  • Club memorabilia auction
  • Raffle
  • and club speakers to be confirmed.

Support the Club, support the NSW Demons, then take the short stroll to cheer Kevin's boy, and our boys,Ā into the finals.Ā Places are limited so please get in now.

My company’s insurance broker got me a ticket - free food and grog. Driving down from Tamworth (6 hours) - hope the boys win!😊

I've lost patience with the Swans.

A club kept relevant solely by obscene draft concessions and wild free agency exploitation of what was always a rubbery cost-of-living-allowance, and now only playing finals because of an absolute howler of a goal umpiring decision.

It's not quite that I hate them... the feeling is like having the smell of badly burnt raisin toast lingering in your house for days.

But really... Heeney, Mills, Blakey, Campbell and Gulden... it would be hard to find a game this season where those five didn't earn at least half the Swan's coaches votes.

I want to see us going into finals with heads up and eyes on the prize, and I want Sydney going in with a reminder that they shouldn't be there.

The free grog doesn’t go well with the driving, tony. Ā Stay in town and celebrate hard after a big day on the supplier’s ticket and a big Dees win!

It's usually dry in Sydney this time of the year. Driving two hours with a Swans mate to the Scg. It's a quiet ride home.

So you are coming from the inner west, then?

The long range forecast says 70% chance of rain, but that’s in the morning. Afternoon is cloudy with some sunshine. But I’m not relying too much on that forecast as they rarely get it right.

I saw that and thought there was an error on the website. Was going to ask about it, so thanks for sharing first!

Probably means I'll have to sit this one out; would be too miserable sitting alone!

A shame, there was even a possibility of rounding up a bunch of Vietnamese in-laws. If they could bring their video-call-to-grandad voice it would make the crowd sound like a solid 60,000.

  • NON-MFC: 2026 Opening Round

Finally the 2026 AFL Premiership Season is upon us. While Melbourne sits out Opening Round, there is still plenty of footy to enjoy with five non-MFC clashes to kick off the new season. It all begins on Thursday night with a blockbuster at the SCG as Sydney hosts Carlton in what should be a strong early test for both sides. On Friday night, Gold Coast gets its chance to open the season in front of a home crowd when the Suns and Christian Petracca take on Geelong at People First Stadium. Saturday features a double-header, starting in the afternoon with Greater Western Sydney and Clayton Oliver meeting the Hawks at Engie Stadium. That is followed on Saturday night by Brisbane Lions hosting the Western Bulldogs at the Gabba, with the Lions embarking on their campaign to win the Threepeat. Opening Round wraps up on Sunday night at the MCG, where St Kilda takes on Collingwood in the only game in town in the first week of the season. There is no shortage of storylines across the round, so discuss all the action from the non-MFC games of Opening Round.
