James Harmes was the sub last night but only came on in the last quarter and had 16% time on ground. Given the minimal time on the ground, is he eligible to play today?

He really should play. Other subs with a quarter or less of footy are constantly playing in the VFL when their game is the following day.  Casey would welcome him in given it’s a tough clash v undefeated box hill hawks.  Wait and see today.

Goody mentioned in his presser that he is playing.

I believe eligible.

I have tried to find the AFL rules as they apply to the operation of the VFL including finals eligibility etc....pretty much failed to get a current set.

Anybody know the clubs connection to Zane Duursma ? Trained with us during the summer and now playing for Casey.
I’ll be keeping a close eye on him to see how he goes today.

Duursma in #46 according to the guys whispering into the mic going through the jumper numbers.

George Grey has replaced Andy Moniz-Wakefield who is Casey’s mystery injury this week (although he appeared to have sustained an injury late in last week’s game).

No sound from the ground. Only the commentators. Weird.

I'm guessing they didn't ask James Sicily to promote Wonthaggi.

Could be concussion protocol ?. On Wednesday's training, I think AMW was in the light duties squad (oops, forgot to mention). After the captain's run on Friday, Casey came out, and he was with the squad, though didn't hang round to see how he trained.

Does anyone know what has happened to Burgoyne?

In the VFLW game before this, there was no commentary. The noise that was picked up, seemed to be the bench, with instructions and players being called off and on. There was also a couple of women's voices dominating the sound. Perhaps they felt more at ease, turning the pick up, off.

  • PREVIEW: Essendon

Not long ago, the narrative surrounding Melbourne was steeped in pessimism. There was some concern among the pundits (and even some fans) that the club would arrive at the AFL’s Gather Round still winless, vulnerable to a familiar adversary in the Essendon Football Club, and facing significant scrutiny from an ever-critical media on a national stage. Things have changed.

  • REPORT: Gold Coast

Steven King astutely identified the issues that had plagued the Melbourne Football Club over the past two and a half seasons when he auditioned for the newly created coaching role. The side that had claimed the 2021 premiership had become stodgy, slow-paced, and hesitant to take the initiative.
