Probably reached good luck status by now.

Definitely. As bad a look as it is, I’d be horrified if ever she stopped doing it. 😁

Per my original post over on the Harmesy thread, she's a 🦄  in this regard. But I see it as a respectful nod to the footiers of my generation, for whom the hanging-out woollen jumper was an opposition tackle aid. I suspect she also has nail-in wooden stops ('studs' to the handful of generations since...)

Wow I don't think I've recovered from that game yet. Up there with the most bizarre footy matches I've ever seen. From the percentage chase to the half time sideways deluge, to that incredibly frustrating ending, has there ever been a more enthralling 78-point victory?

Other have already vented the frustration, so I won't add to it except to say that I admired the team's reaction in the moment in what would have been very disappointing circumstances (regardless of what they said). Also thought that their attitude in the game itself was great. Ruthless but humble is how I'd describe it, with respect for a clearly outclassed opponent without ever showing mercy.

ANYWAY, so glad for Mackin to get her goal. Loved it. Heath too. Zanker - confidence plus and equal third in the season goalkicking is nothing to sneeze at (13 is one better than in her previous five seasons combined, albeit shorter and some midfield seasons in there). Harris in the ruck has been pivotal. Shout out also to Chaplin, who has taken her chance and cemented her spot in her first year - her penetrating kick could become a weapon. Hore's pressure up forward set a great standard.

Birch and Gillard are growing into a formidable combo. You can only play who's in front of you, and it seems the coaches have not allowed for bad habits to creep in structurally against some weaker opponents where a less stringent adherence would probably still reap rewards. Hopefully this pays dividends against stronger attacks and when the real pressure comes.

By all means, we're capable of better, but this gives some context to our accuracy woes. Like Brisbane, we generate more shots, kick more goals...but also more behinds. Of course, against poor teams where we can lock the ball forward, a point often becomes a seven-point play and then likely possession again from the middle. That won't be the case against teams better at exiting and clearances.

Umps don;t like Tayla Harris

Looked up the match review because I knew, just KNEW there'd be something from that "incident".

Well done to Heath for that being her first offence given how she plays - great tackle technique.

That is a shocking fine against Tayla Harris. The ball was very much in dispute (TH was barely a moment later than her opponent), she approached the contest how players are taught to and very little force. Absolute joke

I didn't think it was a free to begin with never mine deserving of a fine or potential ban

She had a couple of frees called against her in the first half which I didn't think were there hence my original post

Carltons total of 81 is the second lowest of the total shots for the season.

IMO they are the biggest underperforming team in the AFLW In the last 4 years since their 2029 GF debacle at the Crows hands.

And they keep reappointing their Coach Daniel Hartford who has another year to run in his contract.

Plus  the media on TV want them so biasedly to win games and pump up their players. Even Darcy Vesio has lost her glamour and footy smarts since being banished to defence even though she is playing solid footy.

In AFLW they are about as relevant as GWS.

Is anyone worried about our easy draw? Adelaide will be a different proposition. Great win by the girls but gee have we had some easy games recently.

I wouldn't say we had an easy draw this year, we've had one of the more difficult draws this year, certainly easier than Brisbane.

she didn't realise she needed the point. tried to square it to improve the angle. understandable

they were going for it the whole game. They were taking on 50/50 kicks into the corridor right from the get-go

Our goal kicking cost us ultimately.

Exactly right, apparently the team weren't told what was needed to get the top spot, so she wouldn't have known.

Melky weighted and change of angles work. Salem has his individual program. White cap (no contact), Howes, Woewodin and Sparrow

    GALLANT by KC from Casey

The world “gallant” is not one that is readily acceptable to losing teams in our game of football so when it was used in the context of the Casey Demons’ loss to Sandringham in yesterday’s match at Casey Fields, it left a bitter taste in the mouth.  The Demons went into the game against the St Kilda affiliated Zebras with the advantage of playing on their home turf (not that this has been a major asset in 2024) and with very little else going in their favour. The Saints have close to a full

    MEANWHILE by Whispering Jack

… meanwhile, at about the same time that Narrm was putting its feet on the accelerator to obliterate the long-suffering Euro-Yroke combination, I heard someone mention in passing that Kuwarna was leading Waalitj Marawar by a whopping 46 to 1 halfway through the second quarter of their game over in Adelaide. “What is football coming to?” I asked myself.  In front of my eyes, the Demons were smashing it through the midfield, forcing turnovers and getting the footy to their forwards who w

HEAVEN OR HELL by The Oracle

Clashes between Melbourne and St Kilda are often described as battles between the forces of heaven and hell. However, based on recent performances, it’s hard to get excited about the forthcoming match between these two sides. It would be fair to say that, at the moment, both of these teams are in the doldrums. The Demons have become the competition’s slow starters while the Saints are not only slow to begin, they’re not doing much of a job finishing off their games either. About the only th
