Can we share this thread with the Sydney supporter who called me a c*nt during the 4th quarter

I suspect the team may have read this thread and thought that they would help sure that we remained humble 🤔

I suppose now we go back to having our heads kicked in.

I'm just not going to have anyone call me a bad fan for being humble but critical of our own performance last night. I resent some friends throwing this accusation out while I sat in the freezing cold at a game and they sat at home with Kayo.

So I play Ultimate Disc (old geezer on the right) here in Khartoum (40 degrees, the 3kg instant weight loss is fun), far left is an Essendon supporter, turns up for his first game with us, and his very first comment was a shot at the Dees, my first comment was, first time in a while you haven't lost on the weekend hey? Put him on the opposite team for a bit of fun (15 years older than him).

Just wanted to share with everyone a short story from last week's loss against Freo.  I was on my way to Richmond Station, and I happened to pass a Freo supporter.  She mentioned to me, "I hope you're not too upset with that loss." and I replied with "Freo did really well, you deserved that win."

She mentioned to me that after that night, she was really impressed by Melbourne supporters.  She said after the final siren, heaps of Melbourne supporters around her offered their hands to shake and said "well done".  She though Melbourne supporters were really nice, and that she wasn't used to that kind of response from opposing supporters - "Usually in Perth, supporters yell abuse, but after tonight I think Melbourne's my second favourite team simply because of people like you, being really nice about losing," citing teams like Essendon, Collingwood and in particular West Coast as the worst. She said it made her trip to Melbourne for the game memorable.

I do think it's an important element of us as supporters.  We don't want to be seen as d-heads, and if we're gaining that kind of reputation, that can only be a good thing.

I wish i could say the same for a the old fella that sits behind me.

Yells abuse every game no matter if we are 90 pts up or 20 pts down. Nothing is good enough for this [censored]!

Same for me, it actually dissuades me from going, let alone bring along another generation of supporter.

I was very close to moving seats - in the MCC a couple of old codgers were just denigrating our players at every opportunity - "no skills", "not trying", "never play him again" referring to maybe 8 or 10 players.  I presume that he would want us playing with about 10 or 12 on the field.  I do get a bit agitated / animated at times but this was bloody awful.

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
