Dees for Punt Rd

Richmond are seeking to make the ground larger by knocking down the old grandstand. If they don't succeed and end up moving why would we replace them and revert back to an undersized oval after getting Goschs made bigger?

Gosch's is literally across the road.

Use Punt Rd for admin, MFC shop, fitness and rehab, skills, community events - then cross the road for match sim etc.

There are many reasons - train in Melbourne, build up supporters, more people can go to training, connect with the city of melbourne, players don't have to drive 2 hours to get to training. would be great to have our 2nds play in melbourne too so more people can go to games, plus the AFLW team has a chance to get some more people to go to the games and build a supporter base

All of that is worthy but it would appear that the club has trouble delivering. So we need to look at the alternatives.

But that does not fit the club's stated preference. Why is that after 5 years and 2 presidents do we still have no stated plan. We are clearly not going to get any money from this government and it is hard to see much happening before 2023 even if their is a change of government. Just tell us what the problem is.

The stated preference is to have admin and football departments in the one building. Ticks that off.

I'm not necessarily advocating for it as a concept or think it will happen, but it covers off the above along with being in the MCG precinct and lets us make the most of redeveloping Gosch's too.

That actually sounds great Nev. Straight swap for Casey? Cranbourne is more their demographic anyway.

I don’t agree the club is obligated to provide a running commentary on complex financial matters involving state government to its members. The updates we get are alright by me. The integrity of the negotiation process is more important, and announcing this level of detail prior to a successful deal can only harm that integrity.

If the government is being stubborn about our requests, calling them out for it will only get them more offside.

Yep, and the 'leaked' plan involving Yarra Park didn't exactly do us any favours at the time.

You wanted a flag before you fell off the twig

This too will happen, but I will be even more grateful if it is announced by the State govt and MFC in due course rather than leaked by Purple or his bottom dwelling ilk

We have heard that from numerous GM,s and Presidents for 5 years LN. What is the hold up?

Finding somewhere suitable.

After 5 years due process is very slow to the point of dead stop. I get the feeling the club is now hiding behind winning a flag. Talk about the premiership and we will forget about the new home

Well after all this time you would think the answer is there is no suitable spot. We have hitched ourselves to the almost unachievable. That may be the bigger problem.

This thread may now be moot as Melbourne City Council have approved the demolition of the old stand and redevelopment of Punt Road and it is now up to the State Government to give the final okay.

We could continue using Goschs for training and have our staff based at Punt Rd instead of AAMI Park

Wouldn't happen but it could definitely work if it had to

Great idea, we could train at Gotch's, keep the stand and put our admin building on the Punt Rd oval. Everyone is happy.
