Do our listed players wear their Melbourne numbers when playing for Casey?

The players I thought were Mitch Brown and Weid are wearing 38 and 26 so things might have suddenly got easier!!

Yep. Pretty sure players wear their same number for Casey

Wasn't Weid named in the actual field in tonight's game?

Yes, but they pretty clearly just slotted players in to open spots to fill 26. Would've been very weird to see him actually play given the tall forwards and rucks are all settled. Unless they were finally going to roll the dice on him down back.

Can rule out Bedford too by the sounds of things. So down to 24.

One of Baker, Chandler or Turner plays, the other 2 are probably the emergencies who might come on late or for injuries.

If this isn't Weid bending one in it's a very good imposter

Carlton have had the ball up their end the majority of the quarter so far but we just ran it end to end for Weid to easily slot his second for the term

Number 41 just slotted one to lots of fanfare, if he's wearing his Melbourne number it was Judd Mcvee

What's the score

Casey 8.6.54

Carlton 1.3.9

Half time, Carlton had the ball their forward half a lot more than Casey but Casey pretty much had a scoring shot on every F50 entry

Carlton fans would've been elated to see Juddy back kicking goals at Princes Park.

Keep the pictures coming - especially of the newbies.

Here’s their numbers

16. Bailey Laurie
19. Fraser Rosman
21. Jacob Van Rooyen
22. Blake Howes
27. Luke Dunstan
34. Deakyn Smith
40. Taj Woewodin
41. Judd McVee
42. Daniel Turner
45. Andy Moniz-Wakefield
50. Ben Brown

Looks like no Daniel Tunrer for tonight either..

Some of these boys may still play a quarter or two tonight.

Where is Milkshake? Is he playing?

Yeah he had a blaze at goal before for a behind

Have just seen 27 get a few touches, could potentially be Dunstan.

Although Mitch White is wearing Kozzy's 36 and someone else is wearing Joel Smith's 44 so looks like I can't trust all the numbers

With Weideman so hot, you would think they take him off at half time and give him a half tonight.

I’d be up for this, we need to look at Weid in combo with Brown. He wasn’t given proper game time last week.

Who you taking out from Jackson, McDonald and Fritsch?

Another goal up the other end, maybe number 40 (Taj?).

Number 73 for Casey is a lumbering giant with a bit curly mop. He's bloody huge

Could be Jack Bell.

19 just kicked one, a lefty so guessing it's Rosman

  • REPORT: Richmond

The fans who turned up to the MCG for Melbourne’s Anzac Day Eve clash against Richmond would have been disappointed if they turned up to see a great spectacle. As much as this was a night for the 71,635 in attendance to commemorate heroes of the nation’s past wars, it was also a time for the Melbourne Football Club to consolidate upon its first win after a horrific start to the 2025 season. On this basis, despite the fact that it was an uninspiring and dour struggle for most of its 100 minutes, the night will be one for the fans to remember. They certainly got value out of the pre match activity honouring those who fought for their country. The MCG and the lights of the city as backdrop was made for nights such as these and, in my view, we received a more inspirational ceremony of Anzac culture than others both here and elsewhere around the country.

  • CASEY: Richmond

The match up of teams competing in our great Aussie game at its second highest level is a rarity for a work day Thursday morning but the blustery conditions that met the players at a windswept Casey Fields was something far more commonplace. They turned the opening stanza between the Casey Demons and a somewhat depleted Richmond VFL into a mess of fumbling unforced errors, spilt marks and wasted opportunities for both sides but they did set up a significant win for the home team which is exactly what transpired on this Anzac Day round opener. Casey opened up strong against the breeze with the first goal to Aidan Johnson, the Tigers quickly responded and the game degenerated into a defensive slog and the teams were level when the first siren sounded.

After five consecutive defeats, the Demons have now notched up back-to-back victories, comfortably accounting for the Tigers in the traditional ANZAC Eve clash. They surged to a commanding 44-point lead early in the final quarter before easing off the pedal, resting skipper Max Gawn and conceding the last four goals of the game to close out a solid 20-point win.
