Thanks WOK that was brilliant great to see our 1963 team in the states great footage of the boys. As Norm Smith said 63 was the one that we should have won.!!

I thought the 7000 mile kick was going to be Kozzie or Spargo landing one in Chocko's roofless car for kicking practice.

The first junket overseas 24 players and 27 officials

all that was missing was ss minnow , bradys go to hawaii and bookem dano

couldnt get away with the sexist commentary now lol

Very interesting.

24 players but 27 officials – a sign of things to come? The mentality of our administration just got worse and worse - most obviously with the infamous Norm Smith sacking. Thank heavens we are now have an administration which seems quite prepared to administer efficiently and quietly!

Who was this campaigner? Geelong number 23. Went down like he had been hit by a freight train however he didn't even have contact.

Not Doug Wade?

This pre dates my footy number knowledge but yes I think it is Doug Wade. Typical Geelong acting performance.

Absolutely it is Doug Wade. Staging like John Peck used to, and also our own Big Bob Johnson

Back in the 60's our family hosted my cousins engagement party, which meant us kids were on cleaning duties for a week.

To make the place look more 'sophisticated' a number of posters were put up on the wall, one of them being a shot of the team on the tarmac in front of the plane that took them to/from Hawaii.  Believe it or not.

  • PREVIEW: Essendon

Not long ago, the narrative surrounding Melbourne was steeped in pessimism. There was some concern among the pundits (and even some fans) that the club would arrive at the AFL’s Gather Round still winless, vulnerable to a familiar adversary in the Essendon Football Club, and facing significant scrutiny from an ever-critical media on a national stage. Things have changed.

  • REPORT: Gold Coast

Steven King astutely identified the issues that had plagued the Melbourne Football Club over the past two and a half seasons when he auditioned for the newly created coaching role. The side that had claimed the 2021 premiership had become stodgy, slow-paced, and hesitant to take the initiative.
