Love it. Did anyone else notice Oliver’s terrible ball drop on that last goal? Sometimes everything goes right. 😀

Wearing two pairs of quality kmart jocks would solve that problem.

A fascinating thing for me with those comments is how quickly their supporters seemed to concede that they were done. As early as after Trac's goal at which point we were only a couple of goals up.  I only started to relax about 4 goals into the last quarter!

Those of us who were there on ANZAC Day 1992 know that the Chris Sullivan Line is real; only at 8 goals up can one start to breathe easy...

Darrell Eastlake - à la his exuberant early 1990s commonwealth games weightlifting commentating. Pretty sure he led to noise complaints!

Tim Lane for me, with assistance from Drew Morphett.

That is confirmed; a sure way to prevent nasty ball drops.

Martin Tyler would’ve been good to listen to. Special voice.

Richie Benno. "Marvellous effort that by young Oliver. I've never seen anything like this on any ground anywhere in the world. They're a very good team this Melbourne outfit, quite brilliant today. 22 very, very good players."

I love watching these goals over and over, but every time I see the bloke in the crowd tearing up, it gets me every time.

It was exactly how I felt at the time - firstly disbelief, then overwhelming joy, anticipation and expectation. "Can it really be true, can this really be happening to us?"

I still tear up with pride and happiness when I watch the onslaught. I must say even tinged, ever so slightly, with a minuscule touch of commiseration for the Dog fans, as these sorts of events (though never ever nearly so totally devastatingly overwhelming)  have been happening to us for decades.

The standard game highlights with commentary is nice, but a skillfully edited slow motion piece with more close up ground level footage mixed in, limited commentary and decent crowd noise is what I'm after

Sounds like being there  ...... 2022 GF PLEASE!!

Sensational is the only word which describes the play, I have watch football since 1952 and this is truly magnificent.

The faces of the Bulldogs said it all, we are done!

They werent just done, they were totally OBLITERATED! May the mental scars come back to haunt them year after year decade after decade for eternity!

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
