I live in Highgate north London, and have a couple of times over the last few weeks worn the red  and blue scarf on the tube on the way to and from work.  Hoping someone would notice ! No one yet!

I’ll watch the GF at home ….

Same as Cairns...

I'll be just across the river from you.  I had thought of hosting a GF event for Demons fans but coverage would be via the BT Sport App and reliant on our often sketchy broadband feed so I daren't risk it.  Imagine the picture buffering just as Maxy is about to launch from 55m?!

As an alternative, and if it goes well from a Demons perspective, if you (or anyone else for that matter) fancies a post-GF slurp, head south across Tower Bridge to Southwark Brewing Company Tap Room (SE1 2EZ - Tube London Bridge) where I'm a co-owner and will certainly look after any Demons fans who stumble in.  Once across Tower Bridge, turn left at the third set of traffic lights - Druid Street - and we're the third railway arch on the right.  Yes we do brew "warm, flat Pom cask ales" ;-) but don't worry, we also have various craft keg beers and a Pilsner lager (and wines and spirits for those not into beer).  The wines might not match the quality of those I brought back from Gippsland a few years back but hey, when in Rome...

Anyway, you'd all be welcome - just ask for Andy.  Go Melbourne.

I've been passing on this info to my daughter and hopefully she'll get to meet a few of you. I've suggested she attend the event near Tower Hill 👍

Andy, good advertising, just ordered a slab for the weekend.... my neighbour is a beer journalist (still can't believe it's a job) and will give him a few leftovers....

The only MFC merchandise I brought when I moved to the UK was a 2007 scarf.

I used to live just by there. Great memories.

Nice!

As I said I'm in Highgate, ie north London.  Trying to think of somewhere semi-public where I can hang my Demon scarf.  Probably I'll not come with anything more innovative than the front fence. It'll probably get stolen, but I have a second one, and hell the risk of losing the first would be outweighed by the buzz I'd  get seeing the red and blue colours hanging out on a a street in London.....

May the Dees be with you...

Brilliant!  Hope you enjoy the beer.  Who's the beer journo?  My co-founder may know him.  Don't worry if you'd rather not say, of course.

Surprisingly some Londoners in Greenwich park asked me about the scarf and were in on the Dees’ story (via a work colleague) and wished us good luck

Jacqueline has just let me know that she secured the last ticket at the Tower Hill venue! She's going to phone there to see if she can get a ticket for her partner, an English boy who's curious and keen to join the spectacle!

Greetings to you all currently located abroad - watching the Dees playing in (and hopefully winning!) the GF whilst in a foreign land should be a fantastic experience.

The mention of Greenwich brings back some fond memories for me. Back in 2008 I wasn fortunate enough to spend a month staying on the opposite side of the Thames - about 200 metres from the walking tunnel that connects Greenwich with Millwall. I remember the walk up to the Observatory well - don't reckon I'd make it these days!

My stay in London coincided with the 2008 GF - I was travelling with some family and friends and we made it a priority. Despite none of having an interest in either Hawthorn or Geelong we had no problem at all making arrangements in advance to see the game. Tickets were purchased for an the event at the Temple Walkabout Pub. The early start (about 5am from memory) would not present a problem at all - we would just kick on from the night before. That didn't really prove to be a good idea - as you can probably imagine.

The events of that day still bring a smile to my face - the place was sold out (mainly Australians of course) and it was rocking. Beer, meat pies and football were the only things on the menu. Don't know what it was - but there was something magical about it all. During the half-time break, and much to the delight of those in attendance, the DJ belted out some all time classic Aussie tunes - Hoodoo Gurus and Hunters & Collectors were in the mix from memory. It was an experience I will never forget - I would recommend it to anyone who happens to find themselves in town at the right time. I assure you - the hangover from hell was almost worth it!

The ferry ride back to Greenwich later in the day (we did kick on at the Walky to watch the Liverpool/Everton derby) was interesting to say the least. Without going into too much detail - one of my cohorts lost "the days takings" on the deck in full view of our fellow passengers. There were staff scurrying around with mops and buckets - a pleasant trip was not had by all that is for sure. I have vivid memories of him being led by the hand as we walked through the tunnel back to Millwall as he was barely capable of placing one foot ahead of the other. He was a complete wreck - didn't resurface again until the following day.

Thanks for reminding me of Greenwich - has brought back some great memories of my travels though the UK and Europe in 2008. Was a great time highlighted by the GF day experience - along with the lost weekend in a hotel in Amsterdam I had the week prior.

Best wishes to all Demon fans currently O/S - about this time tomorrow I hope we hear reports of "It's A Grand Old Flag" being sung from all points of the globe.

Go Dees.

Nice! Pretty sure your lost weekend is still wandering around here somewhere

When looking back at the disastrous end to the game, I find it a waste of time to concentrate on the final few moments when utter confusion reigned. Forget the 6-6-6 mess, the failure to mark the most dangerous man on the field, the inability to seal the game when opportunities presented themselves to Clayton Oliver, Harry Petty and Charlie Spargo, the vision of match winning players of recent weeks in Kozzy Pickett and Jake Melksham spending helpless minutes on the interchange bench and the powerlessness of seizing the opportunity to slow the tempo of the game down in those final moments.

  • CASEY: Sandringham

The Casey Demons rebounded from a sluggish start to manufacture a decisive win against Sandringham in the final showdown, culminating a quarter century of intense rivalry between the fluctuating alignments of teams affiliated with AFL clubs Melbourne and St Kilda, as the Saints and the Zebras prepare to forge independent paths in 2026. After conceding three of the first four goals of the match, the Demons went on a goal kicking rampage instigated by the winning ruck combination of Tom Campbell with 26 hitouts, 26 disposals and 13 clearances and his apprentice Will Verrall who contributed 20 hitouts. This gave first use of the ball to the likes of Jack Billings, Bayley Laurie, Riley Bonner and Koltyn Tholstrup who was impressive early. By the first break they had added seven goals and took a strong grip on the game. The Demons were well served up forward early by Mitch Hardie and, as the game progressed, Harry Sharp proved a menace with a five goal performance. Emerging young forwards Matthew Jefferson and Luker Kentfield kicked two each but the former let himself down with some poor kicking for goal.
Young draft talent Will Duursma showed the depth of his talent and looks well out of reach for Melbourne this year. Kalani White was used sparingly and had a brief but uneventful stint in the ruck.

The Demons return to the scene of the crime on Saturday to face the wooden spooners the Eagles at the Docklands. Who comes in and who goes out? Like moving deck chairs on the Titanic.

It's Game Day and there are only 5 games to go. Can the Demons find some consistency and form as they stagger towards the finish line of another uninspiring season?
