Gawn swings his foot and leg in an arc to the left when kicking for goal. He should lead his kicking action from the knee with a bent leg and smoothly extend the knee joint when making contact with the ball.

But he kicks straight with his left foot because he needs to concentrate a bit more. Simply replicate how he kicks with his left. But of course, that’s way too easy.

James Harmes! A bit more humble pie as a late night snack for several Demonlanders, who wanted him banished. You know who you are.

It’s amazing how much better he looks when all the self applied tickets get washed off in the rain.  As I’ve said before, if he takes the Dusty Martin posters off his bedroom wall and plays like James Harmes, he can be an asset. I suspect somebody has got into his ear and to his credit, he has listened.

Absolutely nailed it

How does Vandenburg get chance after chance. Was slow and dumb and missed two definite shots that should have been kicked

This idea of " lets play vanderenberg for his aggression " . Amazes me as old-style thinking.

A player has to contribute. Look at Oliver. He's as tough as he comes but what a contributor.

I don't believe vandenBerg is in our best 22. However, any player that gets an odd game here or there is likely to struggle for any number of reasons including, not being in rhythm with team-mates, lack of so-called match fitness, and possibly nerves. Last night, vandenBerg looked like a player not quite understanding the pace of the game. Understandable when you haven't played regular senior football. If he were to stay in the side, I would expect him to improve.

From a set shot, Maxie should run in for his kick at an angle to the right that will neutralise his natural swing to the left. Not hard to figure out and implement.

I think he would also, but just at whose expense?  He had 4 tackles and had an inpact in that regard.

You can never doubt his endeavour.

Petty doesnt do much wrong. Very good player as is Bowser who will be the most inexperienced player to play in a Demon premiership in at least 60 years.

Enjoy the next 6 weeks fellas.

Where is my credit, where credit is due?

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.
