Face Palm reactions are for cowardly posters who can't construct an argument.

I got 4 face palms in one post and counting...

Not one of the posters bothered to say why.

If you like something; the like button is great if you disagree with something just explain why.

Cowards hide behind the face Palm when they dislike something and can't articulate why.

As a person who pestered Andy for years to have a facepalm added to the emoji choices, I'm perhaps the best placed to reply to you. First off, I'm not a coward and I think you need to tone down that kind of language. I don't know how long you've been posting here but if you think I can't construct an argument you haven't been here long enough. Alternatively, be careful what you wish for! One of the great things about the emoji's is that if you're time poor, like I often am, they can convey a lot without putting things into words. I always felt that there was a gap in the range of things we could convey with them as there wasn't a thumbs down emoji and that might have seemed to harsh anyway and the angry one didn't fit either. The sad one might be used in certain circumstances to signify someone having a sook. Sometimes they don't need to be explained. Emoji's can be used for nefarious reasons where you might ....... annoy someone and they then retaliate by face palming everything you post. That would be inappropriate behavior and you can always Personal Message the mods if that's the case. Which brings me to my method of dealing with misunderstandings or the need for clarification when I've received a facepalm I didn't understand or thought was unwarranted. I send a Pauline (please explain) PM to the perpetrator. The other thing I do when I get multiple facepalms is check who they're from and if it's people I respect on here I will re read what I posted and check if it's me (sometimes things get mis - interpreted or it might just be the caustic way I've put something. If it's posters I don't respect I don't care for their opinion anyway.

I hope that's been helpful and I suppose I better ask if I was one of the people that facepalmed you? Tell me what thread it was in and I'll have a look and give you some feedback if I have time.

Further and better particulars; I've done a bit of my own research and can say I was late to the party. I'm sorry I wasted my time writing all the preceding stuff. I've now added a facepalm to the post you raised and you need to ask yourself; if a large portion of reasonable people are doing that, then there might be a reason. In moments like this I've found the best thing to do is chose the ignore option bye, bye.

It doesn't surprise me you are a face palm advocate and also write a long winded response to someone only to say you are putting them on ignore at the end.

The only time I actually read anything of that poster is when someone responds to one of his posts and thankfully, that doesn't happen often, he's been one of the two on here that I've got on ignore.

I got a few good facepalms from @Lord Nev today because I can only presume he / she doesn't have the competency to counter an argument.

That's true, he/she doesn't.

@Dante tried to PM you but says you can't receive messages, so leaving his here for you after our little silly battle we've been having.

Wanna call a truce? Feels like two stubborn buggars just being stubborn buggars now.

Too much of a good time for us long suffering types to be having cracks at each other.

You can't message me because like BDA I have blocked you, and that won't change. You are a J..k and I'm not interested in your smart arze comments and I'm happy to have nothing to do with you. This will be my last facepalm and my last word with you.

Not a huge fan of the facepalm but it's here now so just have to get used to it. I'd facepalm this post myself if I could..

  • 1 year later...

I think this is now going a bit far.

There are people on the footy boards now just sitting back and not saying anything at all, happy to not add anything to the conversation but repeatedly urinating over posts with facepalms. It's becoming a form of baiting and when people call it out they end up getting their posts deleted or  worse.

I know that these are simply reactions and people should not let it get to them, but it has become a pointscoring thing to smear someone in public and I'm not the only one who this is driving nuts. I come to DL to get away from the high school popularity contest that Facebook is, this kind of stuff is making DL feel a lot like that to be honest.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

I suppose that I should apologise for the title of this piece, but the temptation to go with it was far too great. The memory of how North Melbourne tore Melbourne apart at the seams earlier in the season and the way in which it set the scene for the club’s demise so early in the piece has been weighing heavily upon all of us. This game was a must-win from the club’s perspective, and the team’s response was overwhelming. The 36 point win over Alastair Clarkson’s Kangaroos at the MCG on Sunday was indeed — roovenge of the highest order!

  • CASEY: Werribee

The Casey Demons remain in contention for a VFL finals berth following a comprehensive 76-point victory over the Werribee Tigers at Whitten Oval last night. The caveat to the performance is that the once mighty Tigers have been raided of many key players and are now a shadow of the premiership-winning team from last season. The team suffered a blow before the game when veteran Tom McDonald was withdrawn for senior duty to cover for Steven May who is ill.  However, after conceding the first goal of the game, Casey was dominant from ten minutes in until the very end and despite some early errors and inaccuracy, they managed to warm to the task of dismantling the Tigers with precision, particularly after half time when the nominally home side provided them with minimal resistance.
