Keep your footballers safe but your healthy return travelers next door to Covid infected travelers ?

Let's say one of them does contract covid from a Collingwood player. What is a 2 day iso with a negative test going to prove? Isn't it true that some people may not test positive til days later l, hence the 14 day quarantine periods (which in themselves don't seem sufficient)

Yes there is a lot of conflicting info being released.  Way back we were told to wear gloves and not to worry about masks (by health authorities no less)  Yet at the same time we were being told that Covid was an airborne disease.

The quarantine period should be a month (at least) for those who have the disease whilst those in quarantine isolation shouldn't be placed anywhere near those who have contracted the disease.  Where's the common sense & logic?

So we're now in lockdown because a  person in quarantine isolation (in S.A) caught the disease whilst residing right next door to someone who did have the disease (for 2 weeks)

Released without testing positive that person later on did test positive.  The same thing happened to a person in Perth yesterday

Amateur hour at work.  The authorities and various governments on either side of politics right across the board are quite clueless

Difficult to have a positive attitude when there are so many obvious mistakes being made (ongoing)

This. Lot of my side is better than your side. They're all a mess.

As usual, we are suffering due to the Key inability of all governments to make tough decisions beyond their next election.

With CoVID, the Feds should have developed and communicated a plan and timeline as to when sufficient people will be vaccinated such that quarantine can be eased or removed... OR stated that Quarantine is here for good, vaccinations not really required and then proceeded to rapidly build medical grade quarantine centres etc...

But choosing either path has issues, so they’ve chosen neither and we’re in no-mans-land with further lockdowns the inevitable and costly result.
incompetence on so many levels, but primarily the Federals are the ones whose dithering is most damaging. Very hard for Victoria to defend against a virus that enters the country via SA.

The Victorian,  SA, WA & Federal Govts have all stuffed up in various ways.  The other States (with potential outbreaks on the horizon) are accidents waiting to happen due to shoddy quarantine set-ups

Especially with those returning from overseas ... sooner or later,  another person will slip through the net

The latest being a person in WA who caught the disease whilst residing in quarantine right next door to someone who has the disease

This, just 2 weeks after the same thing happening in SA

i understand all the balls used during the game are to be wrapped in ppe and sent for cremation

depending on the outcome of the game the umpires may also be cremated

You seriously can't make these things up.

Luckily the ball has never made it past the first 2 rows.

I'm pretty sure the first row of the MCG Level 1 was cordoned off for our first few games. I thought at the time it might have been more about keeping the fans away from the footballers, rather than the other way around, though, given the stringent protocols in place to protect the players.

Takes the meaning of home ground advantage to a new level.

Kinda feel sorry for the Collingwood players to cop these sort of demands just so Adelaide can have their home game honored, considering there's 10 clubs in the league that are currently ''homeless''

I don't see how we're going to be able to even consider playing Collingwood at Adelaide given the ridiculous restrictions in place.

We'd be better staying settled in Sydney and playing the Pies there or going back to Victoria and play at an empty MCG.

Nor do SA deserve the game. They are carrying on like absolute pork chops to an outbreak they caused.

Just play it at the G, I doubt they'll get more than a handful of people in Sydney so can't see the point.

Regardless of who caused it they are still within their rights to take measures to ensure it doesn't spread in their state. The requirements they are imposing on Collingwood seem idiotic though (if this happened to us a few weeks back I'd be furious).

Financials aside I was onboard to playing the game to a packed Adelaide Oval but if it means having FIFO then I'd prefer to play in Sydney to be honest.

She said the ball’s been touched by “many sweaty men,” with such disdain! Who did she expect to be on show?! She’s not talking about a ballet performance. ?‍♂️

Sure but either let the teams play or get stuffed. They are being so over the top it’s actually quite ridiculous.
I do not want us playing in SA if that’s how we will get treated. Sydney or WA will do me fine.
WA has done a great job selling out dream time.

Totally agree Dr. G, except there’s taking measures to prevent the disease spreading in their state, and then there’s treating all Vics  like lepers. People take these things to heart. ?

    TRAINING: Tuesday 28th May 2024

Veteran Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin returned to the training track to bring you the following observations from Gosch's Paddock this morning. Beautiful morning for training. The dew has dried, out from AAMI, quiet chatting. Maysie does his heart symbol. 7 in rehab, Turner, Hore, Sestan, BBB, Petty, Spargo and Schache. All in runners. Melky weighted and change of angles work. Salem has his individual program. White cap (no contact), Howes, Woewodin and Sparrow

    GALLANT by KC from Casey

The world “gallant” is not one that is readily acceptable to losing teams in our game of football so when it was used in the context of the Casey Demons’ loss to Sandringham in yesterday’s match at Casey Fields, it left a bitter taste in the mouth.  The Demons went into the game against the St Kilda affiliated Zebras with the advantage of playing on their home turf (not that this has been a major asset in 2024) and with very little else going in their favour. The Saints have close to a full

    MEANWHILE by Whispering Jack

… meanwhile, at about the same time that Narrm was putting its feet on the accelerator to obliterate the long-suffering Euro-Yroke combination, I heard someone mention in passing that Kuwarna was leading Waalitj Marawar by a whopping 46 to 1 halfway through the second quarter of their game over in Adelaide. “What is football coming to?” I asked myself.  In front of my eyes, the Demons were smashing it through the midfield, forcing turnovers and getting the footy to their forwards who w

HEAVEN OR HELL by The Oracle

Clashes between Melbourne and St Kilda are often described as battles between the forces of heaven and hell. However, based on recent performances, it’s hard to get excited about the forthcoming match between these two sides. It would be fair to say that, at the moment, both of these teams are in the doldrums. The Demons have become the competition’s slow starters while the Saints are not only slow to begin, they’re not doing much of a job finishing off their games either. About the only th
