I don’t blame Melbourne, as all sides are the same, but not knowing the side less than a day before the game is strange.

We have played footy for over a century knowing the teams a few days before the game. Not sure why the AFL has sanctioned this, as it is disappointing for the fans.

Oh sorry, I forgot that the AFL puts the fans last in any issue.

They should at least inform the public of their teams after the "captains run".

I'm not worried about the team. I don't want umpire 22

What time today do we hear? 6.45 on Ch 7?

I am impatient and find it frustrating having to wait but this was requested by clubst to let them name teams closer to when they play. It would be interesting to see how many less on the day changes have occurred since this was introduced last season vs prior years or whether limited impact.

Jones omitted for Brown.

Completely understand the change but still makes me sad to see Jones out

nevertheless there always needs to be a changing of the guard

The love is stilll there for Melksham. Don't mind it. Chunk very stiff but at least they got him to 300. Probably his last game.

  • CASEY: Richmond

The match up of teams competing in our great Aussie game at its second highest level is a rarity for a work day Thursday morning but the blustery conditions that met the players at a windswept Casey Fields was something far more commonplace. They turned the opening stanza between the Casey Demons and a somewhat depleted Richmond VFL into a mess of fumbling unforced errors, spilt marks and wasted opportunities for both sides but they did set up a significant win for the home team which is exactly what transpired on this Anzac Day round opener. Casey opened up strong against the breeze with the first goal to Aidan Johnson, the Tigers quickly responded and the game degenerated into a defensive slog and the teams were level when the first siren sounded.

After five consecutive defeats, the Demons have now notched up back-to-back victories, comfortably accounting for the Tigers in the traditional ANZAC Eve clash. They surged to a commanding 44-point lead early in the final quarter before easing off the pedal, resting skipper Max Gawn and conceding the last four goals of the game to close out a solid 20-point win.
