Incredibly bad luck for Goldie (hamstring tendon), and we'll tymiss her drive out of defence enormously.  Hopefully the return of Meg Downie for her first game at AFLW level for the year will offset this somewhat. Important game in preparation for a strong finals campaign.

Goldrick a big loss but great to have Downie back to compensate. Hopefully she can regain sharpness quickly and be ready for finals.

Good to have Downie back but another match would have helped. Goldie will be missed regardless. However I feel our backline has been somewhat under rated. Birch is usually good but Lampard, Colvin and Tarrant have played well. Heath is god as well and can play wing.

Some doubt whether this game goes ahead.

Due to a covid case in Brisbane anyone arriving from there since March 12 is required to isolate.  Lions AFLW team is still in Brisbane.

Huge implications for the order of the top 6 if this doesn't go ahead.

John Ralph reported just before the men's game started that the Lions women would fly down tomorrow. The women have been in a quasi bubble so are exempted from the isolation requirement.

Heard him say, if they test negative then the game goes ahead.

Uncertainty, doesn't help either side, though a bit more for the travellers.

Smash them at home Dees.

We have been pressurising the opponents and playing like we want to win.

Keep that, include the connection and don't miss the easy goals.

Gay, Daisy and Hore to fire.

Hanks to improve after a bad one in Freo.

Ball getters Paxman and Zanker with Mcnamara outside to control the play.

L. Pearce, will power and leadership.

The backline to repel them.

Game scheduled to start in about 90 mins.  Anyone know if its going ahead or even if Brisbane arrived in Melbourne this morning?

Unfortunately can't find anything on AFL, MFC or Lions websites, twitter.

Anyone down at Casey?

Just read that the game will go ahead - Lions have been given an exemption by the State Gov't.

Roos beat Freo.

Wouldn't mind meeting Freo in the first week of final.  Their last 3 games: unconvincing last minute win vs Carlton, loss to Dees now a loss to Roos.

On a bright note:  Roos win snuffs out Carlton's chances of making the finals

Just now, whatwhat say what said:

win and we'll finish 3rd or 4th (depending on the filth beating crows), lose and we'll finish 6th

If we finish 3rd or 4th we get a Home final next week.  Heaps to play for!

Finish 4th and we play Freo at Home.

We've been a little labored thus far but hopefully that goal will settle us down.

Time to switch to wet weather football.  Get it fwd any way possible.

Good quarter.

Ahead by a point. 1. 0. 6 to 1. 1. 7

Bannan, Hanks, Hore, Zanker, Mithin, Paxman doing well.

Backline is a wall.

Wind was against us.

Daisy is out injured leg, Paxman playing forward.

Scott’s my fav....ripper goal

Brisbane have more class inside 50. Will probably be the difference in this game.

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
