Can a full back win the brownlow?

Very rarely beaten one out at ground level.

Good pick up.

PS No hope for Brownlow because history tells us that only one fullback (Fred Goldsmith, South Melbourne) has ever won. Although based on Saturday's form there must eventually be a Brownlow winner who dominates through his ability to win one on one contests and does not just accumulate possessions.

Kevin Murray says hi!

Let’s not get too carried away after 1 round of footy vs a very depleted Freo forward line.

May (and Lever) played well, but aside from when May was on Fyfe he was on very average players.

Kevin Murray didn't play fullback.  His positions were ruck-rover and half-back flank.

Might you be thinking of St Kilda's Bob Murray who was an excellent fullback (but never won a Brownlow!)?

Not if the Umpies have anything to do with it......!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

AS stated above Kevin Murray did not play full back. He was too good and too valuable to leave down the back. Mostly half back and on ball.

Verdun Howell was belatedly awarded his Brownlow after the VFL/AFL decided to abolish countbacks. On the night Howell came second.

Interestingly a few back pockets have won when playing in the back pocket meant something. Bernie Smith of Geelong and John James of Carlton (who played bp that year) and perhaps Brad Hardie of Footscray who played in a number of roles.

He's been fantastic the last 2 weeks. Should have been All Australian last year. Surely it's his turn this year to get All Australian. What are his odds for the brownlow? never plays a bad game I might put a 10 dollar note on it.

Petracca is now outright 2nd fave for Brownlow.

Interesting that Dustin Martin is favourite, no votes against us and wont play this week and has probably only polled in a couple of games so far...  having said that he could reel off 10 BOG's in a row.

Clayton Oliver at $21 seems like crazy value, could/should have 8-10 votes after round 6.
