Melb v Saints Team

Featured Replies

yeah watch him kick a few or even have a few shots and then they will have to reshuffle to put some one on him, we must man up goddard cant have him running around loose

I'm nervous about Holland. Gehrig dacked him last game (final) but fortunately we could switch him on to peg leg Hamill. No Hamill, no slow codgers...who does he play on????? Kosi's too fast but Holland would be competitive one out. Blake too mobile? Clarke will stay in the ruck, and Rix off the bench, will be too busy getting a belting by White/Jamar.

I dont like Miller down back (or forward for that matter)

The drive from the backline looks to come from wayward Ward, Whelan (champ), Bell the Worrier/Warrior and the occasional line breaker from lollipops Carroll.

The backline makes me nervous.

The midfield, forward line (apart from Robbo at CHF - although doubt it will stick), interchange bench and the saints line up, on the other hand, makes me hugely excited!

Go Demons

well its got me stuffed what Oozy actually has to do ( or NOT !! ) to be dropped...he better do something to repay Danners faith...as many of us Im sure have none left for him.

If the Sainters are to run rampant it will be straight through our Half backs... Miller at CHB must have Lyon smiling !!

It wont matter who is on our backline then..

not as confident as Id like to be...

go Dees

Prediction Yze will only play well if we have a good win, close game or loss will be ineffective

Pretty good 22, only missing Rivers and Pickett, altho both of them are in my top 10.

I have no problems with the tall-small balance, it's predicted to be a wet night.

Sylvia not in your best 22 Old?

no max hudgeton for st kilda, who is neita going to tear apart then?? :D

i like this team very much, would much rather see rivers and pickett back in there (out ward and yze) but we look alright still!

Either is Robbo but he is named at CHF. The inclusion of Bizzell means Miller plays forward.

Forecast for Friday

Cloudy periods with showers. Fresh, gusty southwest winds.

Precis: Showers. Windy.

City: Min 12 Max 18

Wet day and greasy conditions mean you dont want to go too tall. Leg speed and strength in these conditions. Very happy with the midfield but would especially like to have Pickett in there. His kind of conditions to make the Saints think twice.

Robbo will play deep and they will bring Neitz out on the 50.

Ward will give us more run than Bizz.

Sylvia not in your best 22 Old?

I haven't got a best 22, I've got about a best 16 and the other 6 vary.

Sylvia's in the last 6 if fit but I'm not as big a fan of him as most are.

Why on earth would Holland be omitted? So CJ or Ward can play on Kosi? Ridiculous.

Dutchy takes him, or the resting ruckman, and Carroll takes Gehrig.

They've got two talls, and a possible resting ruckman in Blake (they have selected 3 ruckmen).

The other forwards are crumbers or resting onballers.

The teams are in, the excitements building, bring on the game!!

Agreed re Holland

Calling-up Maguire so soon is a risk the saints seem prepared to take and opportunity knocks for Miller.

Ward will give us more run than Bizz.

I think this will be the telling factor. Not Ward, obviously, the run. We go in with almost no-one underdone in any way. Our fitness and legspeed will be what gets us over the line in the end, and should we find ourselves down by 5 goals mid-way through the match, fans should stick around. This could be similar to the Saints finals in that respect, though there are obvious differences.

Since last we met...

Them:

In - Maguire, Blake, M.Clarke, Hayes, Attard, Fiora, McQualter

Out - Reiwoldt, Powell, Peckett, Voss, Hamill, R.Clarke

Us:

In - Bartram, C.Johnson, Moloney

Out - Pickett, Sylvia, Rivers

So what does that tell you? Very little considering all those players who had compromised effect on the game last year, like Whelan, Hamill, Clarkex2, Gehrig, Robertson and Green.

The biggest ins there in Maguire and Hayes are coming in underdone, and the outs cancel one-another out. Rivers = Reiwoldt.

I'm picking us, though not by more than 20 points in the coming weather.

I am excited to see Brent Moloney play after his torrid 2006 season which was ruined by injury ( I think he only played 6 games)

Just remember, this kid was 4th in the B and F in 2005

We go in with almost no-one underdone in any way.

I'd say bartram is under-done, as is Mc Lean and Holland. But it speaks volumes about how high bartram is rated. How many 19 y.o.'s play after 5 qtr's of pre-season footy and after a serious injury. Brock is no surprise as he is a champion already (watch him at clarances... even when we don't clear the ball he is at the drop). You can't teach that; he knows where the ball will fall. Holland can play a role down back and has experience on his side. But I am very surprised about bartram (and pleased). ND certainly sees him as important to our structure already. Amazing pick-up at 60 or so in the draft!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So pumped!!!!!!!!!! Don't care who plays. Go dees!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

C'mon!!!! Everybody be there and support the boys. I don't care if you have to sell a [censored] (or ovary) to get there. I'm that excited I would have organized a shift swap weeeks ago if I were working tonight.

Lleyton Hewitt could not scream a loud enough "c'mon" to express my excitement. Ausies are pumping 'em in the cricket... what's new. Bored by Summer, hate cars circling a lake and swimming is shite. Bring on Winter sports!!!!!!!!! Game on...

12 hours to go... and the adrenalin is already pumping... crap it's been a long sumer and it's going to be a long 12 hours... I can feel a slow day at work coming :-(

It was bad enough that the Melbourne Football Club created yet another humiliating scenario inside its wretched season at Marvel Stadium last Sunday, but the final insult is that it has been commanded to return to the scene of the crime to inflict further punishment on its fans this week. Incidentally, if this match preview, of a game that promises to be one of the most unattractive fixtures in the history of the game, happens to cut out of your computer screen three quarters of the way through, it’s no coincidence. I’ll be mirroring the Demons’ lacklustre effort against St Kilda from last Sunday when they conceded the largest last quarter turnaround for victory in the history of the game.

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

When looking back at the disastrous end to the game, I find it a waste of time to concentrate on the final few moments when utter confusion reigned. Forget the 6-6-6 mess, the failure to mark the most dangerous man on the field, the inability to seal the game when opportunities presented themselves to Clayton Oliver, Harry Petty and Charlie Spargo, the vision of match winning players of recent weeks in Kozzy Pickett and Jake Melksham spending helpless minutes on the interchange bench and the powerlessness of seizing the opportunity to slow the tempo of the game down in those final moments.
