Meanwhile back in reality...

Here are the ABS Labour Stats until the end of September, before Victorian lockdown ended.

Still way too high across the board, but the state by state unemployment rate is illuminating. ACT 3.8%, NT 4.8%, Victoria 6.7%, WA 6.7%, SA 7.1%, NSW 7.2%, TAS 7.6% and QLD 7.7%.

Essendon has received $6.28m in funding from the Victorian state government to complete the second stage of the development of its training centre.

Thanks. Apparently Dan made the decision on his own and neither he nor anyone else in the Government can recall anything about it. Also Unified Security have been paid $1m to deliver the cheque and they are doing it through Uber.

Are you %#&*( kidding me??

How come every other club the the AFL are getting more and more money, to add to their already near new home grounds, and we get donuts????

Pert if you are reading this what about calling the state government to get us a home ground?!?!

It'd be for repairs, maintenance and finishing off.

We don't have anything to repair or maintain, and we need to start something before it needs finishing off.

The Tullamarine funding is to upgrade the AFLW facilities. No different to what we got at Casey.

The Essendon facility is also a high performance centre for Paralympics participants.

So we need an angle.

we have always needed to demonstrate community benefit.

Bulldogs did it years ago with a childcare facility. Got them big Federal grants.

One problem we will face is any form of permanent closure of Gosch's paddock to the public assuming we take that space.

We don't have a proposal yet? How about holding your horses until we actually see what we get WHEN we figure out where we can even build our home base.

  • REPORT: Western Bulldogs

The next coach of the Melbourne Football Club faces the challenge of teaching his players how to win games against all comers. At times during this tumultuous season, that task has seemed daunting, made more so in light of the surprise news last week of the sacking of premiership coach Simon Goodwin. However, there were also some positive signs from yesterday’s match against the Western Bulldogs that the challenge may not be as difficult as one might think. The two sides presented a genuine football spectacle, featuring pulsating competitive play with eight lead changes throughout the afternoon, in a display befitting a finals match. The result could have gone either way and in the end, it came down to which team could produce the most desperate of acts to provide a winning result. It was the Bulldogs who had their season on the line that won out by a six point margin that fitted the game and the effort of both sides.

  • CASEY: Brisbane

The rain had been falling heavily in south east Queensland when the match began at Springfield, west of Brisbane. The teams exchanged early goals and then the Casey Demons proceeded like a house on fire in the penultimate game of the VFL season against a strong opponent in the Brisbane Lions. Sparked by strong play around the ground by seasoned players in Charlie Spargo and Jack Billings, a strong effort from Bailey Laurie and promising work from youngsters in Kynan Brown and  Koltyn Tholstrup, the Demons with multiple goal kickers firing, raced to a 27 point lead late in the opening stanza. A highlight was a wonderful goal from Laurie who brilliantly sidestepped two opponents and kicked beautifully from 45 metres out.

The Demons lacked some polish but showed a lot of heart and took it right up to the Bulldogs in an attempt to spoil their finals hopes ultimately going down by a goal at the MCG.
