We'll just have to agree to disagree Dr. I actually rate Phillips and Thomas did finish last in the Grand Final sprint. Surely that closes the argument in my favour!

yeah good luck with Phillips not coming last in the grand final sprint.

Because if we don't attract the cream of the crop annually, it means my life is worthless...

Josh Thomas biggest goal kicking season haul at Collingwood - 38

Ben Kennedy biggest goal kicking season haul at Collingwood - 9

Pretty sure Thomas is an upgrade on Kennedy and has kicked a bag of 5 goals once and a bag of 4 twice.

Exactly right - so many uneducated opinions here, Thomas is EXACTLY what we need!!! Especially with Brown coming in. Solid finisher, averagesan effective i50 tackle a game, good efficiency, smart & was still didn't picked player in a stacked smalls group at pies. Role changed this year, was played more as a def fwd hence goals tally being lower but still picked every wk when fit in a strong side.

He and Phillips would be good gets, assuming my dream of Treloar or Menegola for the wing remains just that.

Thomas immediately makes us better and would be in at R1. Could easily kick 30+ goals in a team that has Weid/Brown combo

If he was 24 I'd be all for it. But at 29 and being in decline and a role player only I'd have to pass. I'd rather see us continue to get games into the likes of Pickett, Spargo, Chandler and Bedford instead as well as move Harmes into our forward set up.

  • THE STATS FILES: St. Kilda

As part of the effort to trim the runtime of the regular podcast, we’ve been looking at which segments could be reshaped without losing what makes them valuable. One segment that naturally came into focus was Binman’s Stats Files. Not because it isn’t important; quite the opposite. It’s become such a substantial and much-loved part of the show that it deserves a little room to breathe.

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

One of the big stories of the AFL off-season was the spending spree of Melbourne’s Round 1 opponent, St Kilda. They splashed out heavily, first to retain Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera - the hero of last year’s epic come-from-behind miracle victory -turning him into a $2 million man. They then effectively took out an expensive overdraft to recruit a string of expensive players from other clubs. It was a risky investment strategy and, although it’s still early days, it certainly failed to pay off in Sunday’s season opener, with much of the glitter turning to fool’s gold.
