Tend to agree - still a bit of the old boy, ammo stuff about our club. I cringed a bit at the last Captain’s Run podcast, with Gus and Wattsy chewing the fat like a couple of Church St retirees.

I have absolutely no evidence to support this notion, but it always seems to me like Melbourne have favoured these sorts. Lot of guys that are just a bit too comfortable in life and don't have to fight tooth and nail for an opportunity.

The current top sides have a real, permanent tough edge about them, something we can occasionally turn on but only when we choose.

I know, right?! I’m not sure whether that’s a specific recruitment policy (I reckon it was, in the past) or a long standing cultural hangover that still rings true at coterie and board level. Maybe once we have our home base and Melbourne supporters of all backgrounds can mix together, this might change?

I love it when we recruit a genuine hard nut, like Steven May or Clayton Oliver but I must say, I was very impressed with Ed Langdon’s tenacity and contest, when my preconception had been of a one way runner. Perhaps it’s inverse snobbery, on my part?

who has just gone through an extraordinary season and now has the chance to return to the city in which his kids reside and be paid more than the remaining two years at a reduced rate that we'll be able to pay

everyone in the footy dept will be expected to take a pay cut to help accommodate the soft cap - arguably that renders the existing contracts null and void

i hope like hell we can hold him to his deal but at the same time i can see reasons why he would want out

This is just rubbish that is being spread by you because you want people to sit up and take notice of crap you post.

How about getting your facts right first before you go and spread unsubstantiated rumours..   .Burgo will be at the Demons next year and the year after. He is …contracted to the Club.

May has some proper C*&$ about him, it's so good to see. He will be the one that drives the club forward over the next 2-3 years. He isn't afraid to challenge people and demand 100% commitment

The wording by these journos is so unimpressive.

” ... despite interest elsewhere.”

Driven by Burgess, or by other clubs albeit with no interest from Burgess?

The papers need banners & the print to keep flowing even when there's no story RB.  Especially where the Hun (aka Collingwood's unofficial rag) are concerned.

Should be known as the Jack Watts Curse, he was the biggest perpetrator of [censored] culture and it's still lingering around like a disgusting smell.

It's definitely not fitness. the club needs to hire the absolute best sports psychologist they can find, most of the challenges guys like Gus face in this industry are above the shoulders.

he needs to start to believe he's an A grader for us to see the version of Gus that dominated in 2018, i don't think he believes he's that player.

One of my hobby horses since the early days of ND, when he reputedly got rid of sports psychologists.

Could surely do no harm, and possibly a lot of good.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Port Adelaide

The undefeated Demons venture across the continent to the spiritual home of the Port Adelaide Football Club on Saturday afternoon for the inaugural match for premiership points between these long-historied clubs. Alberton Oval will however, be a ground familiar to our players following a practice match there last year. We lost both the game and Liv Purcell, who missed 7 home and away matches after suffering facial fractures in the dying moments of the game.

  • AFLW REPORT: Richmond

A glorious sunny afternoon with a typically strong Casey Fields breeze favouring the city end greeted this round four clash of the undefeated Narrm against the winless Tigers. Pre-match, the teams entered the ground through the Deearmy’s inclusive banner—"Narrm Football Weaving Communities Together and then Warumungu/Yawuru woman and Fox Boundary Rider, Megan Waters, gave the official acknowledgement of country. Any concerns that Collingwood’s strategy of last week to discombobulate the Dees would be replicated by Ryan Ferguson and his Tigers evaporated in the second quarter when Richmond failed to use the wind advantage and Narrm scored three unanswered goals.

  • CASEY: Frankston

The late-season run of Casey wins was broken in their first semifinal against Frankston in a heartbreaking end at Kinetic Stadium on Saturday night that in many respects reflected their entire season. When they were bad, they committed all of the football transgressions, including poor disposal, indiscipline, an inability to exert pressure, and some terrible decision-making, as exemplified by the period in the game when they conceded nine unanswered goals from early in the second quarter until halfway through the third term. You rarely win when you do this.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecast—20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze — expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.
