The game is not about punching players in the back, hard enough to crack their ribs and bruise their lung. All done deliberately to a guy who can’t see you coming.
That ain’t a love tap.
Rules say straight to the tribunal and minimum 3 weeks.
BTW Carlton played one short as a result the whole game.
Nice tactic for a GF to a star of the opposition if it was legal. AFL would love that.

I don’t agree with the rules, the medical outcome shouldn’t dictate the suspension in my opinion.
you could do the same act 20 more times and not have a player need to leave the ground.

OMG WTF is happening with Adelaide?

What’s the bet we lose to them for their only win for the season.

Sorry, a cheap shot causing a serious injury should be punished severely. He didn’t have to do it and Silvagni is going miss a lot of games. An eye for an eye is entirely appropriate.

There’s talk of Merrett being suspended for that love tap on Silvani. Good lord if that’s the case we might well make the game non contact

Lol he punched him and allegedly broke a rib and bruised a lung.. nothing to see here!

So how many weeks should T Mac get for breaking Stewart’s collar bone?

zero. It’s the action not the outcome that should be assessed

Let's remember we tried to get rid of him a year before to GWS.

Really? I hadn't heard that, but I know his manager shopped him all through his last year.

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

One of the big stories of the AFL off-season was the spending spree of Melbourne’s Round 1 opponent, St Kilda. They splashed out heavily, first to retain Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera - the hero of last year’s epic come-from-behind miracle victory -turning him into a $2 million man. They then effectively took out an expensive overdraft to recruit a string of expensive players from other clubs. It was a risky investment strategy and, although it’s still early days, it certainly failed to pay off in Sunday’s season opener, with much of the glitter turning to fool’s gold.
