Training in 10’s

Featured Replies

With the training for clubs about to go up to groups of 10, would you:

Train in line groups (forwards, backs, midfielders)

Train in groupings (3 forwards, 4 mids, 3 backs)

Or something else??

Considering our two greatest needs will be connection between lines (especially Mids to the forwards) and cohesion in line groups, I would suggest we probably need a mix of both.  Are we allowed to mix and match?

well the traditional methods haven't suited us well so I'll go for option 2 (train in cross groups).

My logic is that the others in the group may learn more about the playing style of their team mates. Length of kick, sides of body, leading patterns etc.

The downside of course is that each group will only have one coach so which one gets the forward coach etc??

What a way to have to go about it, 10 at a time for a sport that essentially needs all 22 players on the same page and have built up confidence/trust in each other.

This was TV in WA, the AFL has squashed it until all teams in different states have the same ability to train to the same standard.  Even playing field.

I would be happy to see training televised.

I might be wrong about this but I was under the impression that even in the training in 10's model there is still no equipment allowed to be shared, this includes a footy. I could be completely wrong on that though.

Not like the NRL, then, where training involves the sharing of hookers and coke.....

Not even sharing the footy - i suppose that they could all hand sanitise before and after??  Like I handle the shopping trolleys at Coles with 1500 other shoppers and have to use good hygene to make that work?  I’m sure the rules will be clarified before they are allowed out to train.
