After the worst season in my living memory last year this damn club keeps sucking me back in to the point where I now care about how other teams are playing in pre-season games.

For those who saw, were Carlton genuinely bad?  I actually think their list is pretty good, especially that they now have a competent coach.

Geez the skill level of rich v gws is very good and a fair bit ahead of the melb v hawks game.

Interesting times ahead.

Conversley I thought apart from the last 10 minutes the intensity between Freo and WC was really poor. Re melb Hawks conditions perhaps?

I watched bits of the first half and their ball movement looked better than it has for a while. I was a bit shocked to see the final scoreline so checked out the Blues board and apparently fitness is a concern with teams running over the top of them in both their pre season games.

They have also had a lot of pre season injuries and surgeries.

Trying to think why it seems so familiar...

As often happens when a new coach takes over a dispirited team in mid-season, Teague had a good start to his career. He gave them freedom, their confidence lifted and after a win at home against an over-confident and cocky Brisbane, they had a run of games against other teams in the lower region of the ladder. They won a few games and Teague was appointed permanent coach. He’s going to have a tougher job now with the clubs having more time to scrutinise the players and the game plan.

based upon 5 mins of viewing, north look like they're going to be a thuggish team - so many late hits and physical acts to try and intimidate

very reminiscent of the way they appeared to play in the scratch match vs us as well as the way the hawks went about their game

That's what bog ordinary teams do - they go the man a bit harder than most.

I can’t see North or Sydney having a significant role in 2020 other than as punching bags for the stronger teams. And Essendon and Geelong aren’t very impressive either.

Tend to agree. If it wasn’t for Geelong’s home games they would struggle.

Although I do not know you Andy, given you are the Demonland revered founder, Captain and Coach, I have great respect for your work. I think though the MFCSS virus has got you hard. That’s about as negative as I’ve heard you. Hope you have stocked up on loo paper

Not entirely. We needed an Eagle or two to be rubbed out for Round 1 and a Giant to go for two weeks.

And that’s all folks. Melbourne finishes in 3rd place. If the AFL was serious about this pre season competition, we would be figuring in an elimination final on the Gold Coast next weekend. Won’t happen.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

Demonland's own Whispering Jack was not in attendance but he kicked off proceedings with the following summary of all the Preseason Training action to date. We’re already a month into the MFC preseason (if you started counting when the younger players in the group began the campaign along with some of the more keen older heads)

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
