There’s not many options PF! I’ll be giving independents in my area a really good look for sure

Still shake my head that the east-Melbourne end of the MCG car park idea was scuppered. It made so much sense in so many ways.

Blame the local greens trying to save a tree, blame state gvt happy to pump 140 mill into Geelong redevelopment, all about political votes, club wasted almost a decade with this location obsessed of being near the G

I like the last bit that Caulfield is our only focus and the words “sorting it’s Caulfield plans,” which indicates to me that we are going there, but with some details to be finalised.

That is probably as encouraging as we are getting at the moment.

If we haven’t got a club update by late March, I am possibly attending a MFC supporter group function with King, Guerra and Steven Smith, who I have known for 50 years and I will definitely pump him and Guerra for any info that can be shared with DL.

Either that or reading the Herald Sun and listening to 3AW.

But that’s ok, because the CFMEU have clearly taken over the ABC. It all evens out.

The irony in all of this is there remains roughly 500 car parks at the MCG in this ‘save a tree’ scenario.

Those 500 car parks facilitate roughly 250,000 car trips from the outer suburbs to the G over a 10 year period.

My research tells me that keeping those 500 car parks is a 200x worse environmental outcome than removing roughly 50 established trees to facilitate the build.

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

It’s late February. Two teams widely predicted to finish near the foot of the AFL table in 2026 face off against each other in sweltering 30-degree heat deep in outer suburbia in a match simulation with fresh new faces and uneven team numbers. There are no nearby sheep stations on offer; the result promises nothing more than bragging rights for the winner. Nevertheless, the loser appears hopelessly adrift, whereas the other seems to have found its footing after a couple of years of struggle – perhaps a hint at bigger things to come?

It was only a preseason match but the new look Demons spearheaded by new coach Steven King looked impressive as they put on a clinic against perennial cellar-dwellers North Melbourne as they cruised to an 80 point victory at Casey Fields.
