Tasmanian Team

Featured Replies

I have a soft spot for the Shinboners but if they can't make ends meet then they need to relocate to a place where they can flourish or just fold. They're already selling out their own fans to the tune of four home games a year just to keep their heads above water so it's time to [censored] or get off the pot for them in regards to Tasmania.

If the concerns about a phoenix club being viable down there are credible then moving lock stock and barrel could see them keep enough of their Melbourne based support to make the difference. I don't want to see them being gifted 'home' games in Melbourne as a sweetener to move however.

I've worked out how to make it viable.

Every home game they can play a double header.

And Bob's your uncle (more than likely).

There's no way they're sending a Victorian team there - imagine having fans from the south, fans from the north and fans from Victoria all having to be catered for.

My prediction is that they won't want 20 teams so a Victorian club will be merged with Gold Coast (ironic if North, but I'd want to keep our finances above float just in case) to pump them up, opening the space for a brand new club to start in Tasmania.

a two for one deal at the gate Bif.

The only issue I have with this is talent. There is already not enough talent to go around for 18 teams adding another will only exacerbate this issue.

That never seems to be factor in AFL decisions Dr.Their attitude seems to be 40 more players would be playing at the top level. Quality doesn't seem to matter.

I would put all their home games before June and half of Brisbane and Gold coasts after June and the other half down south. Then give the Roo/Devils 2 home games later in the year at the G to bring in footy followers. [censored] playing down there in July and August. Yes it would stuff up a lot of "Big matches" but it wouldnt bother me.

  • REPORT: Richmond

It seemed as if the whole purpose of the Anzac Eve clash at the MCG between the Demons and the Tigers was building toward that single, unforgettable moment when Kozzie Pickett soared above Campbell Gray and all but fittingly etched his name onto the face of the 2026 Frank ‘Checker’ Hughes Medal.
