I have no problem at all with his departure but will wait till the pre-season to see what other changes are in place and who fills the roles to make a full judgement. From the outside I think that there must have been some significant friction within the coaching group, between McCartney and some players or both to precipitate this move. 

From the little I have heard on the grapevine about his departure from the Bulldogs. 5 years in the club is about the maximum I would have expected.

Brendan has an uncompromising philosophy on the lifestyle sacrifices, and the skills and attributes required to make it as an AFL footballer.  It's a tough philosophy that I find it very difficult to argue against - I didn't notice you doing that there either.

IMO he made an invaluable contribution to both Geelong's and the Dogs' premiership success.  His message is very tough and it probably has a use-by-date and I'm a bit surprised he was at Geelong so long, but he was a younger man then.  I've got no doubt his contribution will be key to the premiership success of our current group at Melbourne and I'm thankful for his input. I wish him all the best for the future.

Only if the players chose to listen to it rather than get annoyed by the rev ups and hard/uncompromising philosophy he preached. 

Im know struggling to believe our players really do want to go to the next level. #mfcss

Any belief that what was done at Richmond in 2016 off season to bring silverware in 2017 will apply to MFC appears fanciful at best, delusional at worst.

It would be unfair not to give Goody a chance to reprise his reputation after a catastrophic season where his beligerent belief in his game plan failed.

This off season, he either develops some fresh ideas on how to take advantage of 6 6 6 and how to defend, or he'll go the same way  as the assistant coaches. 

Footy can be brutal. 

Having spoken to Macca at a couple of functions this year, l am of the view he was pushed, and l suspect l know by whom. He was passionate about getting the boys ready to play like men.

We will never really learn the truth until he speaks to Mike Sheahan in around 3 years time. 

 

 

Im tired of this assertion that Goodwin has a biligerant belief in game plan, is inflexible, stubborn, etc., from people who dont know him and do not work in the club.

I am more interested in who will replace him in the job. 

The Club has been garbage all year, maybe Macca should have been terminated last October. 

We have wasted a year of record membership. Makes me angry that nothing was done.

I cannot fathom why McCartney would make such comments unless he really meant them. A key sign of a great environment is the way the people who leave feel when they finish up with the organisation. McCartney doesn't strike me as the sort of bloke to not speak his mind, so I take it he leaves the MFC on really good terms and thinks alot of Goody.

From the people I know that worked with him he is a person of integrity and  you are not being naive.
