Word I get is that things down at the club among some players are not all hunky dory.
Some jealousy over who gets paid what.
Lost the closeness they had last season which might explain the lack of support for each other.
That's what I hear.

How very us to self destruct.

Hmmn, interesting.

I sensed, from some expressions I've seen recently, left me feeling a bit uneasy.  They don't look happy campers as a group,  for whatever reason.

I've noted the same.
Lack of support for each other.
Lost the will to block and shepard for teamates etc.

And then I hear this.

And, if true,  could possibly shine a light on our current workrate,  this season.

Who were the  're-signees'  of last year ???

I've noted the same.
Lack of physical support for teammates.
No ones blocking/sheparding etc.
And then I hear this.

Still, I wouldn't expect them to be happy campers right this minute.
I know I'm not.

Nothing story really there will always be disparity of contracts in this type of industry.

I doubt it.  Contract talks are an ongoing aspect for all AFL players now and handled by player agents/managers allowing the players to focus on playing while their agents manage.

Have to say the body language generally from the playing group isn't great.

No "togetherness" at all apparent before the Anzac game during the ceremony.

We played like it was every man for himself and they were all on notice.  Haven't seen anyone fly the flag and push back for a comrade all year.

Pure speculation and probably wrong but something just doesn't feel right lately.  Is it just the rub off from such a poor start or is there really something more happening down at the Demon' s lair!?

I just wish the players would, or someone from the club would come out and say what's happened to cause this?

This seems much more than playing poorly on the field, it's almost like they have given up and don't care.

This just rips your heart out seeing our club, from one game out of a gf, to going back to the dark ages, of when mr white board was at the club.

Please Melbourne give us something?

Am I alone in being amazed that nothing has been made of Martin’s dangerous throw of Hibberd to the ground and subsequent elbow to the head, not once but twice when Hibberd was lying dazed on the ground?

A perfect example that supports my comments on confidence.

When a Melbourne player stands up or retaliates they are penalised. Our opponents seem to be able to intimidate often illegally without the same penalty.

We need to discuss with officiating body what is wrong with our structures or techniques that means we get no protection and only penalties.

We may be able to change our attitudes and demeanour to allow us to play with greater confidence.

If Hibberd threw Dusty to the ground and gave a couple of sly elbows we’d all be cheering.

And be outraged if one of our own copped a soft chicken-wing fine.

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
