'Closed' session unsuccessful given it's being held at Gosch's

Warming up down here - I love preseason

Looks like most of the team out on the track and the operation recovery boys  very active and with ball in hand. Clarry's shoulders looking ok, bit of ball work and some run/walk laps

Lever on the bike, peddling aggressively. Brayshaw in recovery group... unclear why?? Don't see Jack Viney

Big Maxy looking like it's going to be a huge 2019. Nibbler looking exceptionally fit.

Saty getting some photos, I lool forward to his update

Thanks for the update @Graeme Yeats' Mullet.

The Brayshaw in the recovery group is the mystery injury of the week. AFL.com.au initially reported him as being in the rehab group due to being ill in the week prior. He's still there a week on. There's got to be more to it. Chalk another one up in the interrupted pre-season group.

Now you're really messing with someone's head....

I asked for further clarification on Gus' state last week as "sick" didn't sit with me, especially as he was at training, and was actually doing some form of exercise.  @brendan @TeamPlayedFine39 any latest news that's not from the Herald Sun?

My doubts were that if he was actually sick (ie cold, gastro, etc), he'd be better off spending a couple of days away from the club, and definitely with his feet up.  He's been rehabbing for well over a week now, so my suspicions are growing.

I tried asking a few  re Brayshaw, got absolutely nothing so left it

No not really, I thought it was an amusing line

They started the day with a Nibbler won 2k time trial at 8.30

Edited by Satyriconhome

A detailed report

They ran

They kicked

They marked

They handballed

A 2k time trial followed by 2hrs of craft

Standout today was again Harry Petty

What time does today’s session likely to end?! Would’ve liked to pop down but didn’t realise they started so early!

Who else was up there? J Smith? KK?

Sorry,  was too busy eating my egg and bacon roll,  KK was second, Joel Smith and Tommy Mac thereabouts

I'll copy and paste these reports for every session and then Demonlanders will no longer need to head down to Goschs.

In what way was he the stand out? I hope he gets another crack at the big time. Was probably the wrong choice for the Saints game.

Probably winding down if not already finished. The club does not list the Wednesday sessions as they are officially closed sessions on an open field. I get that the team need closed sessions to work on "plays/drils" and keep these away from prying eyes or reports on Demonland and other platforms that then can be seen by prying eyes. It would be great to have a closed off venue that could facilitate this.

Just did everything to an excellent level, got praised out loud by coaches at least 4 times

Him and Weid seemed to have done a heap of extra work, think he was paired with Weid for a reason, like Billy Stretch, Weid is fastidious with his preparation

Majority of rehab group were out for 2hrs as well, Gus lifted the speed of his lap running, was working to a plan, kept checking in with fitness staff, was just running in shorts and gps bra, low socks, no strapping anywhere, so again, mystery deepens, didn't seem hampered at all

Have a work shift this afternoon, wil post pic tonight

How much bigger is Tom this pre season?

Will be a super important year for him in terms of his career. Will likely find it hard to break into the ones if lever fir and raing to go. Which if he isn't might open a window of opportunity for him early in the sason. Goody has shown a willingness to give player their chance.

to be honest i don't think they handled his call up well last year. Wrong game and then to drop him after one week was supper tough on him.

Assume you meant Harry, obviously exit interview said the opportunity is there if you want to take it, has looked switched on from 1st session

Lever looks in ripping nick on that bike.

I was joking with him a couple of weeks ago, he reckons he has spaghetti arms anyway, seems to have put on a bit of muscle, has been doing a bit of upper body work though, we all forget he still only 22, don't think he will ever be May's size though

Different player to May.

We need May to wrestle with and distract the opposition monsters whilst Lever comes in from the side to pinch the ball out of the air with his spaghetti arms and be off down the field before they have noticed.

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
