Remember Mooney dominating around the ground for them too.  Rocked up hoping we could emulate the miracle win at Kardinia Park that got us there, but the game looked over at quarter time. At least Robbo capped off his career year with 4.  Not much else to take from the game for Dees fans.

I think the Dees had spent their tickets getting to the finals in an epic run in.  We also lost Neita in the final round win over Essendon.

Yeah Mooney was incredible that day.

Oh that’s right I just remembered something else, being right behind Davey’s shot from the goalsquare that hit the post.

Much better to remember the saints game the following year.

remember the G train running back to full forward during the third quarter. Got a great big roar, but didn’t get a near the pill for the rest of the game.

Go Dees  we will win   6 goals I think

Loved it when he tried to run around Carrol and injured his ankle, lol.

We limped over the line that year and were in some terrible form come September.  That was an issue we had in 04, 05 and 06; we were never peaking at the right time of year.

This year however...

I’ll never forget White getting kicked in the face. Devastating.

Weve had some great ruckman across the journey, haven’t we?

Really needs to be a thread. In my time, Stynes, White, Jolly/Jamar, Gawn...

If that doesn't get demonlanders of that vintage excited, I don't know what will...

O’dwyer is often forgotten now but he was a great one two combo with Stynes  87-90. Think he even won our b&f in our grand final year of 88 . He got suspended before the debacle v Hawks.

Yeah too true, those three years from 2004-2006 we really fell apart at the end of each home and away season.

2018 is more like  1998 and 2000 as far as form heading into the finals goes.. not the massive winning streaks, but we still head in with two huge scalps and in red hot form...  we also finished 14-8 in those two seasons, same as this season.

Crap decision by the umpire. In the mele their were heaps of Carlton guy's swinging, as well as Melbourne, but the ump picked on "Strawbs" to settle it down. Peter Landy, commentating, was wetting himself. So worked up. He was really giving it against Strawbs knowing full well that Melbourne would play HIS TEAM, Hawthorn, the next week. Maybe the first "trial by media".

I remember in 04 we were 1st after 18 rounds. Front page of the paper. First time we had been 1st that deep in the season since 1964. Boy were we being talked up!

Then we lost to Port by 70 points and ended the season with 4 straight losses before losing to Essendon in the Elim by 5 points. Broadbridge's last game.

No it was a ruck contest

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
