Ben Hart halfway out the door at the Crows. Goodwin connection?

I thought the same thing @Mach5 - I know nothing about him however... was a fine player mind you...

Ryan O'Keefe is available as well.

Nathan Basset.

It's not often spoken of but Port have had the least scoring against for two years running.

All Australian defender (alongside Goodwin) and multiple premiership coach with Norwood.

Hard nosed, a strong communicator and development coach with an aggressive defensive outlook.

Previously followed Goodwin to Essendon.

Former Demon :)

The missing piece of the puzzle.

*not merely as sexy as who we should target player wise.

It's easy to draw inferences on players skills sets, acumen and talent - harder to draw a line on coaches, particularly all the assistant ones from afar.

I stumbled across Brett Ratten leaving Hawthorn a few minutes ago - and thought to myself - that I've always rated him, as a person and as a coach, can't tell you why, just a sense... wouldn't mind getting him on board again at the Dee's.

But, in one - out another - and without character assassinating people/coaches I've never met - has anyone got a version of a champion data write up for our assistant coaches ;) - I hear from some Demonlanders that Troy Chaplin, shouldn't be retained etc etc...

Cartoon were stuffing things up, the same time as we were.

I like Ratten as well...  But lets NOT upset the apple cart; for wish this, or wish that.

Inner harmony is crucial to us.

Ratten has already done time with the Demons. He was their mid field coach after he retired and he was bloody good...

Yep, I recall.

I was disappointed when he left us. but we were a mess waiting to implode. lucky he did go at that time.

Now is a much better time for incumbents.

It’s being reported here that West Coast will allow Mitchell to move to Melbourne however he’ll be working for them from there for the next two years.

  • REPORT: Adelaide

The atmosphere at the Melbourne Football Club at the beginning of the season was aspirational following an injury-plagued year in 2024. Coach Simon Goodwin had lofty expectations with the return of key players, the anticipated improvement from a maturing group with a few years of experience under their belts, and some exceptional young talent also joining the ranks. All of that went by the wayside as the team failed to click into action early on. It rallied briefly with a new strategy but has fallen again with five more  consecutive defeats.

  • CASEY: Coburg

The Casey Demons returned to their home ground which was once a graveyard for opposing teams but they managed to gift the four points on offer to Coburg with yet another of their trademark displays of inaccuracy in front of goals and some undisciplined football that earned the displeasure of the umpires late in the game. The home team was welcomed by a small crowd at Casey Fields and looked right at home as it dominated the first three quarters and led for all bar the last five minutes of the game. In the end, they came away with nothing, despite winning everywhere but on the scoreboard and the free kick count.

  • POSTGAME: Rd 17 vs Adelaide

The Demons were wasteful early before putting the foot down early in the 2nd quarter but they chased tail for the remainder of the match. They could not get their first use of the footy after half time and when they did poor skills, execution and decision making let them down.
