Luvs ya work, Drunkn167.

I simply must respond to that. Tim Watson was no more a cheat than Melksham or Hibberd. It is the greatest tragedy that Watson lost his Brownlow yet it had to,happen. The Essendon players did not  know they were being doped. They were badly let down by their admin and coach.

The penalties imposed were, nevertheless, appropriate. But to make disgraceful allegations against Watson is behind the pale. Please tell me how his case differed from Hibberd or .Melksham.

Fair comment @Farmer - I said that out of turn and tarring him with the same brush as Dank etc was not accurate.

Firstly, it's Jobe, not Tim.

Secondly, players have been told for many years that they are responsible for what goes into their body.  To be systematically injected weekly (off-site) when it had never happened before should have been thought provoking enough for an experienced player like Watson.

He knew it was an edgy program designed to be advantageous.

Agreed.

Thirdly, they conveniently left the "supplement" they were being injected with off a list that they had to submit to ASADA detailing what had been put into their bodies. All the players know what they were doing was pushing the limits, and they were aware that they could be found cheating.

Deal with it.

And I have expressed mine but it is you who have the problem with being held to account on your irrational pleasure at Dom Tyson being omitted in the first round.

No. Weideman is the backup Ruck, and Bull can't ruck.

I don't really know where Smith will fit into the AFL side, but he's playing too well in the reserves to be left out. I guess that's actually a really good sign, when players can't get a Senior gig purely because the Seniors are playing too well.

Good call.

  • PREVIEW: Essendon

Not long ago, the narrative surrounding Melbourne was steeped in pessimism. There was some concern among the pundits (and even some fans) that the club would arrive at the AFL’s Gather Round still winless, vulnerable to a familiar adversary in the Essendon Football Club, and facing significant scrutiny from an ever-critical media on a national stage. Things have changed.

  • REPORT: Gold Coast

Steven King astutely identified the issues that had plagued the Melbourne Football Club over the past two and a half seasons when he auditioned for the newly created coaching role. The side that had claimed the 2021 premiership had become stodgy, slow-paced, and hesitant to take the initiative.
