Not how it works mate. Clubs work a fair way out with their key targets, they don't just randomly pop up in trade week and go 'oh hey we wanna trade for Petracca...'

Wonder if bottoming out was in their their player acquisition strategy. It must have been ! They know what theyโ€™re doing !

ย

Outstanding game of footy by Petracca yesterday and clearly one of the bestย of his career. Looked "on" from the first minute.

Listening to him in the Ch 7 post game interview, and I know words aren't everything, but thatย appeared to be a player that is heavily invested in his footy club and won't be going anywhere else anytime soon.

the whole group look happy and engaged - amazing the therapeutic value of a few wins. Long may it continue.

Great call Chook, i went to the footy, noticed how engaged they are with each other, but it was my wife and 14 year old daughter who said out of theย blue when i got home and we dissected the game that the "Demon players actually look like mates and that they like each other.."

ย

It shows and that's a really good sign.

The more we win, the happier the players are, the tighter the group becomes, the less chance they'll want to leave.ย

Pretty simple really.ย

Trac is keen for his pay day, but the only reason he and any of our other stars will want to leave is because they see team success elsewhere.ย

This year was and is so important for that reason alone. Couldn't ask for a better start.ย

Next 4 week block is super important without May and with the hopeful inclusions of BB and Weed.ย

Two wins and two losses is my prediction and that's okay.ย

Let's keep rolling.ย

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.
