I've looked at his career average disposals, which is around 19, and iy holds up well with the wingmen of his era.

I remember one piece of play in about 1984 when Robbie won his own ball in the centre, went for a run, dodged about 3 players and took a shot from about 50, which just missed. Cue Barassi yelling "Jeez Robbie you are ordinary sometimes!". I think he was a victim of his own consistency, as a higher level of play than most was just considered normal. I can understand the Brownlow votes to some extent (when there are only 3 votes to give, it is hard to give any to a side that is thrashed), but I am buggered if I know why Robbie has one Bluey and Chunk (no disrespect to him) has three ...

The period that RF played in was a poor MFC era however while team results were not good we did have a number of good players during his career time.

Move forward to the period that Jones won the B&F,  he was part of the worst teams that the MFC have put on the park IMO. Jones won those awards when we had 4-5 AFL standard players .Simply there was no one else. He will not win another B&F simple because there are a lot of players now drawing votes. I actually think Jones is playing better now than when he won the awards.

Time also clouds what players were really like we remember the good times but forget the not so good.

Flower had poor games I remember thinking on lots of occasions if only Flower had played well today we would have won.

If only we had demonland then we could search the archives. I'm sure all the answers would have be there

Not sure the Demonland Server would have survived the 87 Prelim on a Commodore 64.

AT his peak l remember when R. Flower wasn't in the team mainly because of injury, we didn't win too many games maybe a hand full.It would be interesting to know. I was there for his first game against Geelong, he kicked 3 goals at the MCG. However the talk was more about Robbie and not about Greg Swan who kicked 8 Goals straight. In those days in a better team he would have been a world beater. 

One commentator calling the game against Richmond running down his favourite win at the G called when he kicked a vital goal. bouncing the ball with his left and right hands.......

Mmm.... not so sure about that, OD. Yes, of course, Flower had poor games, but your last sentence kind of says it all.

Also, in 1981 we won a single game, by a point over the Bulldogs (who finished second-last) with Robbie taking a hangar in the goal square and kicking the winning goal, IIRC. Best and fairest that year: Steven Smith. Smith was a good player, no doubt about that, but the 1981 team would have to be at least as bad as the 2013 one ... Robbie came third in the Bluey in 1981, behind Smith and Brent Crosswell. Playing only 16 games might have been an issue, as Robbie did seem to suffer more than his share of injuries.

You must have had poor eyesight. Lucky if he had a handful of poor games. Not that many!   MANY OCCASIONS AS YOU SAY ??????/
