FREAKISH

Jeff Garlett had a great season highlighted by his lightning speed and some freakish goals. He must have been close to All Australian selection although his form tapered off a little right at the end.

Close to a career best year and would've been close to filling a forward pocket in the final All-Australian team. Fantastic response after a fairly mixed 2016.

21 games, 42.28 goals is a great result...but would it be selfish to want it to be 21 games, 55.15 goals?

some of his misses in front are inexplicable - his set shot work needs a lot of work

love his ability to outbody bigger defenders and use his footballing 'nous' to control the space around the drop of the ball and put himself in an advantageous position to make the most of his opportunity

his football definitely became more subdued as a result of off-field circumstances, but he still looked threatening

he's a massively important part of our forward line

Thought his set shots this year we're a vast improvement on last year.  42.28 is pretty good really.

If I recall correctly a bad and particularly critical exception to his steadiness in front of goal was the final round against the Pies.  Missed at least one, if not more set shots that he would have gobbled up earlier in the season... was not alone in that though.

Gee if he only had a little helper to go along with him, we would be unstoppable.

ANB. No surprise that Nibbler's career best season coincided with Garrett's best season for us.

Hi all!

I didn't want to start a new thread so I thought I'd give this one a bump.

I've just edited and uploaded a video to YouTube featuring Jeffy's 2017 highlights.

More to come in the lead up to round one!

Go Dees!

Great effort for your eighth post! ? Ten minutes of viewing pleasure to gear us up for the first round! Shame that we didn’t pick up Eddie Betts as well! ?

I see Mark Robinson has him in his SuperCoach team today in the Hun. Playing for Carlton!

Does Slobbo know something we don’t? No, let me re-phrase that.....

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
