Dunno. Kids love him.

My 4 year old will be upset (and confused) to see him playing for Port.

The point I'm making is not actually about jumper sales though. It's about broadening the lens on assessing a player's worth to a club.

You can assess it in many ways. If he's on $500k a year I'd be expecting more out of him than what he's currently providing on and off field. Perhaps that is what the club is thinking as well. They may be able to free up some Cap space to bring in a free agent next year.

If we trade Watts and don't win a flag the above is going to look like a picnic

Lol yeah I'm sure the Watts lovers are a fearsome bunch.

Deduct those for his NM, GWS and Port games while you're at it.

As for the others, at least they [censored] try

Oh no - two of those were "the wind" as Goodwin pointed out. His theory was to bomb long into it and then let the opposition force stoppages when we had the gale at our backs. Two terrible coaching efforts-really very poor-and Jack Watts was in the team perhaps but you can chalk the Hobart and Canberra debacles down to Goodwin.

I do agree with that 100% but the effort shown by Watts in those games was shocking.

Maybe because the coaching message was stupid.

You don't trade the most accurate set shot in the competition for a second round pick who will never win you a game.

2016 Sam Lloyd 2nd on the RFC goalkicking with 35G 13B. An even more accurate shot for goal than Watts. And won games off his own boot.

2017 Sam Lloyd played 8 games.Hardwick worked out that the benefits of having a smaller mobile forward line that applied pressure worked better than playing someone just because they are an elite kick.

Getting rid of Watts is equally about how Goodwin wants us to play next year, as it is about his lack of discipline off field.

Hey Biff. I assume you're old, so maybe you can help me? Why are a bunch of the older members of Demonland so keen on Watts? I thought you'd all have had enough by now, and be beyond the seduction of golden curls?

Never seen Lloyd floating across half back, ruck all day when needed, running up and down the wing, or setting up every goal Dom Tyson ever kicked as well as being a better set shot than 35/13

His best is better than anyones-it's a coaches challenge to get that from him.

Jeezus, now Jack Watts is a Robbie Flower incarnate. With all that gut running you'd think he'd average more than 15 possessions a game.

Because coaches can erode the confidence of very good players for a communist gulag ethos instead of just dealing with people for what they are.The Communist factory ethos gives me the SH!ts-it's not how flags are won.

4-5 coaches so far, maybe wait until Goodwin gets axed by round 10 to see what the incoming coach will bring I suppose, I like it. Lets just keep sacking coaches until Watts delivers

Robbie had some absolute shockers as well.

That says more about the club than it does about JW-who actually loves the club.

Roos got JW playing career best footy.

Goodwin starts off his career by denigrating him.

Now you have gone too far.

Robbie was a ball player and rarely tackled-you must admit that much.

McCarthyism and Jack Watts were probably two subjects I never thought would be clumped together. Goody the Red (and Blue) menace?

He didn't have to, as he was always the one with the ball.

And seriously, the 73 kg Robbie was far more courageous than the 96kg Jack has ever been.

Robbie went in head over the ball, Jack doesn't.

As I said I really like Jack but lets not make him it out to be what he isn't.

He is a sublimely skilled footballer who plays the game on his terms. Pulling out of contests and not making footy your number 1 priority is not the Goodwin mantra.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
