STMJ has it about right.  And you can add Tyson's resolutely left sidedness. He has no right side at AFL level.

There are plenty of left footers like that, but they normally are elite on their preferred side.  And that aint Dom.

STK and Carl may need him, pick 30 and use that elsewhere. Filled a hole and was loyal but unless he changes and adapts, may be goneski.

Probably worth more to us than what we could get for him in a trade. That said he may want more opportunities.

Where though? He could maybe slot into Carlton's midfield.

An in form Dom Tyson is absolutely in our best 22 and, like others have said, he's currently sitting at about 23rd-24th of our list.  One injury to a player under 192cm, and he's in.

With that said, if he wanted to leave for more opportunities/security, I'd hope we could convince him to head to the Gold Coast.  They have early picks, need mature talent and are willing to pay 'overs' for players who are keen to commit.

My preference though is for him to stay.

His sloppiness with the footy is what hurts him. I will stand by the fact that he is bloody good player - you don't find it as easily as he does without a great deal of talent. What a great place to be that ANB, Harmes, Fritsch and co. are keeping him out.

I trust him to come in and contribute and keep us going and that is great. You can't replace your best players of course, but Tyson could easily be in the 22 that runs out deep in September.

What bothers me is he is a bit slow in mind when he has the ball and often gets caught holding the ball. People mentioning that he has no right foot I think are missing the point. Most left footers have no right to speak of. just look at buddy franklin.

But what a left foot Buddy has.

I think we can all get behind the Lachie Weller precedent for a potential Dom Tyson trade. I just hope the club would pick the next Josh Kelly though this time ?

Watched the replay. He did well, fulfilled his role. And will get better with more games but may have to give way when Viney is ready.

Thought he was good Saturday night. Clean and effective. I think if you don't notice him too much (i.e the horror kicks or the holding the balls) and he still has 20 odd touches, he has done well.

Dom was very good.  He usually struggles to impact with his disposals even when he has 25-30, but he had an impact with just 20 touches vs the Crows.

His hands were very clean and creative.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
