No Zac Merrett, Ollie Wines or Clayton Oliver yet they have Trent Cotchin as the starting rover?

Would have to be the most overrated player in the competition is Cotchin. Im amazed how much football love thise bloke gets.

Tend to agree that he's been very overrated over the past few years, but he did have a pretty good game on Thursday.

Clarrie stiff not to go back to back.

I saw his game Thursday but Merrett and Wines were a step above.

I noticed that too. Also Josh Kelly on the bench. Just saying. *ducks for cover*

I thought Roos nicely put the kybosh on this conversation permanently by saying at the time we would not have taken Kelly anyway and offered no clue as to who we would take - that makes comparisons rather hard.

Very happy with Tyson and Salem - we got what we needed.

Cotchin is the closest other player to Jack Watts in the league as a favoured whipping boy.

Cotchin's 2 last quater bone crunching tackles were pivotal in the result  (even though one was probably around the neck).

Played a great game. His silky skills reminded me of Robert Flower at times.

I hope we get a full season out of Salem.

Guys like him win games

Agreed Cotchin played a beauty last friday

amongst complete mediocrity from everyone else.

Slight aside, but GWS Josh Kelly apparently has a 9 year $9mill deal on the table from Norf.

Did Salem actually play off half-back or was he a true midfielder? I was at the game and couldn't tell.

Looked like HB to me. He was doing a fair bit of the work Bernie usually does.

With Lewis out, one of them will probably go inside this weekend. Bernie to Dangerfield makes the most sense, which means Salem can doing exactly what he did against the Blues.

We’re back! That was fun. The Mighty Dees’ Season 10 campaign is off toa flying start with a commanding 48-point winover the Western Bulldogs, retaining the Hampson-Hardeman Cup in style. After a hard-fought first half in slippery conditions, the Dees came out in the second half and showcased their trademark superior class, piling on four goals in the third termand never looked back.

  • REPORT: Hawthorn

The final score in Saturday's game against Hawthorn was almost identical to that from their last contest three months ago. Melbourne suffered comprehensive defeats in both games, but the similarities ended there. When they met in Round 9, the Demons were resurgent, seeking to redeem themselves after a lacklustre start to the season. They approached the game with vigour and dynamism, and were highly competitive for the first three quarters, during which they were at least on par with the Hawks. In the final term, they lapsed into error and were ultimately overrun, but the final result did not accurately reflect their effort and commitment throughout the match.

  • CASEY: Box Hill

The Casey Demons ended the regular season on a positive note and gained substantial momentum leading into the finals when they knocked the Box Hill Hawks off the top of the VFL ladder in their final round clash at Casey Fields. More importantly, they moved out of a wild card position in the finals race and secured a week's rest as they leapfrogged up the ladder into fifth place with their decisive 23-point victory over the team that had been the dominant force in the competition for most of the season.
