I still personally do not really see the issue, if its about identity I guess the fact that it says Melbourne FC and is the new logo which we want associated with our identity fits the bill.

If its purely based of aesthetics, the biggest knock is that it is not creative enough, which makes sense, but I still think the logical clash strip this year was going to feature the newset logo.

Regardless of whether or not the clash strip is something you like, unless every season you purchase a new red & blue Melbourne jumper, I would suggest that your complaints should not be warranted as you provide zero back to the club regardless of the jumper anyway. (purely on jumper sales, memberships etc irrelevant). I would hazard a guess that 90% of the people that are complaining are still rocking a jumper with LG as a sponsor or something similar anywho.

For the vast majority of MFC supporters the whole subject is a non event.

The club knows the majority of people who don't like the clash jumper are die-hards who wont stop their support for the club and in the end they sell more jumpers in total.

I dispute that. There are a lot of MFC websites online and a lot of comments have been made about the crappy white jumper

I think Old Dee's point is that people may not like the jumper but they don't care enough to make a song and dance about it. And then there are those (like me) who couldn't care less about the jumper design.

For 99% they may think it is less than ideal but it is not important in the scheme of things.

over the last decade there have been hundreds of issues/problems, some small, some middling, some serious (and you in particular have been quite vociferous on them). during that time the membership has been relatively stable and loyal.

using your logic we should conclude that for 99% of members those issues were "not important in the scheme of things" because they didn't "drop their memberships". so all those issues/problems were "way down the bottom of their perceived problems" for 99% of members.

our Colours are Red and Blue. 

I don't want to have to ask someone "Is that us on TV" it is trully offensive and shows me in spades that the AFLare losing touch with the game, Big Time. 

Attendances are dropping in comparison to the countries population. The AFL want to be careful.

I have been to ever AGM for the last decade DC and the subject is never raised.

This a problem for a few diehards for the rest it is a minor irritation.

you would be aware that problems (big or small) are rarely raised at gm's and when occasionally they are, they are generally shut down quickly or fobbed off.

You're right OD, it is a minor irratation but an irritation just the same.

I really liked 2016 model and now we have this years crap one.    I won't not pay my membership but still irks me a bit

Some battles aren't worth fighting. While you and I think arguing with the club about the away jumper is one of them, I'd suggest arguing about the jumper on Demonland is an even more unwinnable battle.

One would have to be a diehard to have actually bought a Melbourne Football Club membership within the last decade, so I'd actually say that there are a fair few die hards amongst us.

I've yet to come across a true Demons supporter in my cohort that doesn't hate our any of the white/grey clash jumpers the team has worn since the ill founded conception of them.

Dear Glen,

 

As I proud Melbourne Football Club member/supporter, I clearly identify our teams colours as red and blue.  As you are aware, in the recent decade our competition’s governing body the AFL has haphazardly applied an inequitable policy, compelling some teams to adopt on occasion, a match day jumper which dilutes their clubs identity by the introduction of a third predominant colour of white (or in some previous instances grey).  On past occasions when the MFC has worn such predominantly white or grey clash jumpers on match day, I have found it to be both offensive and confusing to my sense of being a member/supporter of the MFC in the respect that I do not recognise the match day jumpers worn by the MFC team as belonging to the MFC.

 

I am writing to request that the Melbourne Football Club revise the presently designed clash jumper proposed for season 2017 to a version or versions that comprises only of our teams colours of red and blue, without the dilution by applying a predominant third colour such as white.  Upon revision of the design to one comprising primarily of our teams colours the jumper, the MFC should advise the AFL of this decision and present the red and blue only alternate/clash jumper options as the ones the MFC intends to wear the few away matches for the 2017 season, where there is considered to be indistinguishable similarities between MFC and the opposing team (2, 3 or perhaps 4 times per year).

 

There are numerous recent precedents whereby the AFL has allowed teams to adopt clash jumper designs without a predominance of white, in instances where that teams colours do not contain any white.  Specifically Richmond, Essendon and most recently the West Coast Eagles have adopted clash jumpers comprising solely of their respective teams colours.  The MFC should follow the same logic of these teams in wearing match day jumpers which proudly feature only the principle colours of our team being red and blue.

 

I look forward to your reply and to watching the continued rise of an increasingly successful red and blue team in 2017.  Every heart beats true.
